Hi Joy,

I'm 27 months out and still, the only protein I use is Nectar Fuzzy Navel made by Syntrax. I mix it with about 1/4 tube (just a sprinkle) of Orange Sunrise Crystal Lite to make the flavor a little stronger. It's kind of like good old fashioned Tang. Not that thick shake stuff, more like juice.  If I haven't had any for a couple of weeks (getting most of my protein from food, but sometime I goof) I find that I've really missed it!

You can probably google "Nectar Samples" and find a source to get some sample sizes before you commit to a big tub. I'm sorry I can't remember where I got samples from, it's been a long time. They also have some other Nectar flavors that I remember I liked, so for a couple of bucks each, give it a try. Once I found a source for the Fuzzy Navel locally, I didn't bother with the mail order/shipping thing anymore.

Good luck. It's important to find a protein source you like so you're more apt to use it.

Take care

Susan

Butterjoy,

Look at Kroger's Carb Master Yogurt. They only have four flavors..but I use every one of them..... protein count is 12... mix that with 1/2 c of high protein low fat cottage cheese and you've got a good meal/snack AND as much protein as a protein drink.

I live on it.

Wow, Janet, thanks for that tip. I've seen the Kroger Carb Master, but never even picked it up. Will certainly check it out.   My problem is the cottage cheese. I haven't found a brand here in the Mid South that compares to Knudsen's in CA.  All of it here is very watery...not thick at all like what we're used to.

Maybe it would be better with the yogurt mixed in?

Hugs and smoochies.

Signed,
Susan who's trying to save $8 at a time.

Susan,

I like Kroger's cottage cheese.  It's not runny, in my estimation.... but here's a tip for you..... if you put it in the fridge with the lid down, the gasses will be on the bottom when you turn it and it won't be so runny, so I'm told.  I've done it when I remember to.

Ok....it's worth a try, for sure. I love cottage cheese and just haven't been eating it at all since moving here. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Thanks for the great ideas!

ALoha Joy......I'm sorry you are having trouble getting your protein quota. Nausea is NO FUN!!

Right at this moment I am drinking a protein drink...the same I've been drinking for 2 and a half years. I buy online at VitaCost.com the Walker Diet protein powder (it has lots of vitamins as well as high protein). They have several flavors and I've gone through all of them...favorites are cappuccino, banana and peach. I put a few ice cubes into the blender, add about two cups of water, a heaping tablespoon of benefiber, a whole banana (or berries or papaya), two scoops of protin powder, blend and yum! It's a meal in a glass and tastes great...to me, at least.

Hopefully you will find your answer. I was reminded before this plastic surgery I just had that protein will always be our major daily goal.....lots of protein.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen
