Drug Amiodarone after surgery
I take Atenolol at bedtime for an irregular heartbeat and was told to take it every night, including the evening after surgery, no matter what. It's a fairly small pill, and I had no problem with it whatsoever. In fact, unless I take a really big gulp of cold water, I haven't had problems with my larger pills, either.
I've heard, though, that other people do have problems with pills, so it probably would be a good idea to check with your pharmacist to see if the pill can be split or crushed. Usually that's not a problem unless it's a time-release medication or has a special coating on it.
Good luck with your surgery! I'm about 6 weeks out from my RNY and am very happy with it.

Thanks for the information. I am about 6 weeks too, well January 23rd to be exact. I will ask the Surgeon when I go for my pre-op. I do have to have the pill, so I was wondering. My pill I think would have to be broke into pieces, I will have the surgery in Traverse City Mi. I live in Canada.
Good Luck with your surgery! Now we just have to get through the Christmas season, then get ready for the best New Year's Resolution Ever! RNY. Take Care and Season's Greeting. LOLA
