OK dragon slayers,so begins the 12 days of Christmas, and for our Jewish friends, your season also.
We must be armed and aware. So much tradition of food is tied to this time, mom's apple pie, sometimes eating it makes her feel closer to her if she has passed. The foods of our childhood, take us back to happy or unhappy days. It is just food, let's light candles, hang bulbs, find other ways to re-capture our memories and pay homage to days by gone, we can do this!
B- Chopped egg salad L- Hawaiian style wrapped pork with something I can only call greens, yummy. D- Soup, probably split pea,and wheat crackers. S-Banana
OK,lets go out there and deck the halls, and kick some dragon butt!

good post and good morning!!!

what you say is so true.  many family traditions are hooked up to having certain foods on hand for the holidays.  im lucky since usually my sister or I are the cooks and she is considerate of my needs and of course if I cook, i plan ahead for what i can eat.

i have also found that many of the things i like can be adapted to a more weight loss surgery friendly recipe and have done that several times.

but i think planning is the key.  one example is chocolate.  if i put some out for my guests, i also put out a bowl of hersheys sugar free chocolate that i can dip into.  then i dont feel deprived.

i think thats the key, lack of deprivation.  we want to feel like everyone else at holiday time.  my doc, before the surgery, told me that a holiday is just another day in your life, and that was good advice.  so i try to remember that for any holiday and i try to plan so i wont feel deprived in the food department.

its not always easy, its something you have to work at.  every once in awhile it just doesnt work out.  then i have to remember, hey tomorrow is another day, and just do the best i can.

be safe and well have a great day,

jacki

Linda and Jacki - both of you have made excellent points this morning... I know the stress of the Holidays can send us to food.  Thank goodness for our smaller pouches - we can't eat what we used to... but it is still hard to make good - healthy choices.

What willI eat today ?  ummm  I know I am going to make a crustless quiche and I have to work tonight, so much of my day will be trying to get rested enough to make those 12 hours.  The first night back is the worst !

Thank you, ladies for your wisdom

Good Saturday morning to you, our sweet Linda. You bring up some good points and I have to remember that the holidays are just that. Holidays and another day~albeit they are special but we will survive them. If we make some mistakes then just get up, shake yourself off and get going on down the road again. It is that simple.

I am still not feeling hungry. I am not sure if it is the problems I am having or what. I found another poochey spot last night on my stomach. It is higher and not by the belly button. I started having pain there on my way home from taking Bill's cousin to the store. I bought some things and put them in the trunk and carried them in. I thought that I was imagining it but Bill saw it and felt it. So it must be there. I have to remember not to be lifting anything that heavy anymore. I saw a big change in both of them when I did that. Now the thing is to remember that! I am sure that Bill will remind me of it. He is good at that. I called the doctor's office and was told that Thursday is the only day I could get in. She told me that if I am in pain that is bad to just go to the hospital. Which is what I will do. I promise.

B: oatmeal and banana
L: out with Eileen and Paulette and Earl
D: not sure but protein and veggies for sure
S: sf pudding probably

Yesterday I ate 2 times which is better than the 1 time on Thursday. So maybe things are looking up.

Have a wonderful day and know that I am sending love and big hugs to you. I haven't seen many dragons to slay but I am on the lookout, I might be seeing them when I get outside. It is going to be in the 40's today and tomorrow so the dragons might be out in excess with the warm weather. I am keeping you and yours in my prayers.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Ohhh  this Hypoglycemia has really got me staying on track..... well, sort of.   I've been writing down everything I eat, the time, and amount.  It seems like I am always eating...... no, I'm always eating. lol  I baked yesterday.  Darlene's Egg Nog Bread....  it was so good but....  I wrapped most of it up and gave away. I made caramel corn too..... ate too much and gave the rest away.  Thank God for the single guy upstairs...  LOL

The Dragon is just outside my door and waiting to pounce.  Today I have Three events...  a Brunch at my apt complex, an Open House and a Yule Log party.  Ohhhh  this is NOT good.  I've prepared my "armor" and am ready to slay the dragon.  I have most of my food prepared to eat prior to each event so I won't be hungry when I get there.... and I'm bringing foods I can eat.

1st breakfast...  1/2 pear  1 oz pork loin
2nd breakfast  1/2 cup cottage cheese  1/2 pear
snack  veggies with  HB egg
Brunch..   1 pancake  1 bacon  1 egg
Late Lunch  chili w/cheese  onion
Open House...  will look for veggie tray and lean meat
Yule Party...... fruit veggies ????
