I am the owner of many gallstones!
So as it turns out I was NOT eating too fast. The ultrasound today showed gallstones... lots of them. I guess that explains the pain. The report will get sent to my surgeon and I suppose I'll be hearing from him about what the next step (if any) is. I don't want to have that kind of pain again, that's for sure. Has anyone has this surgery? Is it an outpatient thing?
But I just had to update everyone since I've been talking about this for the last two weeks almost. I learned a lesson about being proactive in my own health care, that's for sure.

Aren't you the lucky one... not just one gallstone but many..... lol sheeshh.
I would suggest you let the nurse or whomever it was you spoke with that eating too fast was not the problem .... they need to know that second guessing can seriously affect someone's health... physical and/or mental. Maybe even the Dr should be told... HIS staff is a reflection on him too.....
Good Luck Millie

Laura, I sympathize with you but I kind of figured that was it.
I had my gall bladder out lap and it wasn't bad at all. I was suppose to be in overnight but I ended up being in there for 3 days. I was kept because of the heart problem. They didn't want to chance anything going on with it after I got out. That was my heart doctors idea and not the surgeon but he went along with it. The drains are the worst thing but then we are use to them with wls aren't we?
Good luck and keep us posted on how things are moving. And hopefully it isn't the stones since they only hurt when they move.

I had my gallbladder out about 8 years ago with a lap procedure. it wasn't bad at all. Invact, I was suprised that my RNY was a bigger deal than the gall bladder. The doctor explained that they did lots more cutting and sewing in the RNY so that made sense. I think I went back to work in 2 weeks but that is because my job requires lifting and being on my feet for 12 hours at a time. My mom went back to work in 4 days.
The surgeons should put the patients with their gall bladders still in tact on that one or Actigal for at least 9 months after surgery. I know they use to but they have changed the post op guidelines so much anymore it's no wonder all the complications and situations.......
