What's New Thursday?
Brrr, it's cold here ... 21 degrees. At least it's not snowing, so I'll take heart in that. But boy, does my body hate the cold ... knee, back, hip (probably really my sciatic nerve going into my hip), feet, elbow, shoulders ... really, there's not much that doesn't hurt.
Hey, the frozen ground is good for my light-up deer ... he now stands up! No longer dead deer from the hunting season.
Work was just that tonight, work ... a little longer than I'd like, but a few tough technical issues ... two tabulated boxes to do that took awhile, two full business pages, along with the usual full local briefs package and the stocks page. Tomorrow, they want us down there at 9 for a newsroom photo; I'm begging out of it ... it's too early, I have too much to do to get ready for my trip to Chicago (and I do!) The photographers were in there this afternoon, setting up the strobes and get a sense of what the shot would be like ... I just think it's going to entail too much standing for me ... I'm not short enough to sitting (even though it's at my desk), so I'd be standing much too long for my knee. Plus, like I said, I'd have to get up at 8 to be downtown in time. I'm too tired for that. I know this is a "history-making" photo ... this is the last time for a separate Grand Rapids Press newsroom photo ... the next time, it will be a photo of the group of 8 Booth Newspapers ... or maybe there will be no newspaper at all, who knows? By then, I'll be retired or on disability, the way my body is breaking down. I'm so cheery and optimistic, I know.
Today, when I went into work to drop off my insurance election form, human resources had moved ... such is the state of remaking the office. It was on the third floor; it's now on the first floor. Most of my coworkers didn't even know that until I told them. I wouldn't have known that except for my venture into HR. There is yellow tape in hallways ... it looks like an episode of CSI.
Well, I checked my bank account, found my little bit of a paycheck, refilled my prescriptions and now have to do my shopping lists. I have to get a few things to get ready for my trip to Chicago. I'm getting together with Brenda and Paulette on Saturday in Portage, and then later in the day with my friend Mike and his kids in suburban Chicago. Don't know who else is on the agenda other than my family on Sunday ... hope to see my Aunt Bernice on Monday and then come home if the weather is good.
Have a good day. Stay warm if you're up north where it's so chilly.
Good morning Eileen and OFF Folks.
A good day Wednesday. Car is repaired, will pick it up tomorrow. Miracle came along and I am able to pay for the repairs.
Took my son and grandson to a Rangers autograph session. We were allowed three autographs each of the following players: Michael Young, Chris Davis, Taylor Teagarden and Derek Holland. In case you don't know, Michael is a bonafide star. Chris will be. Real soon. He came to the majors last season and impressed everyone. Taylor will be trying to make the team in March. Derek should be in the majors by July or August.
Great time.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Derek Holland was really cool. He was pouting because he did not have a Michael Young bobblehead and Chris Davis did. Long story short, my wife volunteered to give him one of ours. So, I think I will see him at Fanfest on January 24th.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
It wasn't 4:00 AM, it was 1:00 AM.

We had another furnace, insulation estimate. The two men were wide-eyed at being greeted by 8 black cats. They all come running when people arrive. I told them to be sure and NOT let the furbrats out and said "they are friendly".
The men did their measurments, checked things out, not needing my help. One man came into the living room to talk to me. Joey hissed, snarled and attacked the man's leg. Whoa - I have never seen that reaction before.
The man wasn't hurt but Joey did not like him at all. He continued to growl until the man left. I'm thinking I may not want that person back in my home if my cat had such a reaction.
Busy day ahead. My client asked me to attend her Christmas concert at school. One of the men from the support group had surgery. His wife said he is feeling well and up to a visit from me. I need to be at the hospital before 8:00 AM to make the concert in time.
Keep warm. We have all sorts of weather advisories for today, tonight and tomorrow. It might get nasty.
Kisses
Annette
We actually had sunshine here yesterday.....sure lifts the spirits! Today is to be cold and partly cloudy. The moon was so bright last nite and even yet this morning.....full moon tomorrow nite.
Busy day yesterday ......got a lot accomplished at work as my co-worker went with her DH to a Dr's appt. so had the office to myself. My 2 Thurs. piano students needed to come yesterday afternoon, but not until 4 and 4:30 so that made the afternoon drag on. I did get to the exercise center and did at least 9 laps maybe 10, as I lost count along the way.....need to get something handy to keep track of my laps.....my feet hurt a little this morning, but I think my orthotics needed to be changed, so did that and will see how they feel today.
Next time I see the foot Doc, I need to order some new orthotics, hopefully Medicare will pay for them.
The handbells practiced at 6:15 then played at the 7 pm
advent service.....we did ok, but could have used more practice on the piece. We play again Christmas Eve.
The small choir I have organized will practice next Wed. after advent service and sing on Dec. 21st. at the beginning of both Sunday services. We are singing
"A Tiny Child Will Come" and it will be beautiful...I hope?
Off to do grocery shopping this morning. DS and DIL are coming to dinner on Sunday for his birthday....he ordered lasagna so I have to get all the "stuff" to make it. He also wants peanut butter pie and I found a good recipe in my cookbook for one that is lower fat and calories.....it's mousse consistency....but I won't be eating much of it, that's for sure.
Had a bright idea for DS's christmas gift == a new garage door opener system for his new pole building.
That's all he's getting and I told him so.....it's over $200. He is a happy camper.
The support group is coming along....the hospital is having business cards printed up and we've been looking at various logo's....Jan. 5th will be here before I know it!
Yikes I was just going to write a few lines and sorry have gone on and on.
Have a blessed day,
Pat R.

Done! Your Ticker:
Good morning to you Eileen and my other OFFer's. It is so early here and yet up I am and have been for about an hour.
For some reason I just can't sleep anymore tonight. I woke up at 4 and low and behold here I am. I am not sure what is up but I wi**** would go back to where it came from. I would like to have more than a few hours of sleep. It begins to take it's toll on a person. Oh well, it is what it is and nothing more or less. I will survive!
I am making lasagna this morning to take to the church for the funeral dinner. A old member passed away (the one that Pastor and I went to go see a couple of weeks ago). She was a long time neighbor of my aunt and uncle and I always remember Millie as Millie. It was so hard going up to see her near the end. She reminded me of Mom and that made me sad. I told Pastor the other day that I need to get past that. Pastor said that he things that there is really no such thing as closesure. You just come to fact that you must change your life and go on. I agree with that. I guess with some passings it is very true. I feel that way about those that I love but mostly my parents and grands and of course with no doubt mostly my children. But back to the lasagna, it must be at the church by 10:30 and so I must get that going. I never thought that I would be making it this early.
I am planning on staying home this afternoon. I have to get the pants of my Christmas party set hemmed. I was wanting to get a pair of heels for it but I tried them on last night and I would probably fall flat on my face. It has been so many years since I wore them I could hardly get to the mirror. I did like the look of being in them but I think it should wait until summer when there is no ice. I would rather wait than fall and end up with a broken back! So it is just my usual dress shoes for it. That just means a bit more to hem.
I went to my cousins and got all the prizes wrapped for the party on Sunday. I had such a nice time and stayed for lunch. So I had my 3 cousins with me and we had such a fun time. I was kind of dreading it but it went well. I was there for 4 hours and then left and did the shopping for the center pieces. That went well and got some really nice looking stuff at the dollar store. While I was at the store I got some things for me too. Not much but a couple of things that caught my eye. I got some aluminum pans for the stuff that I am making for party and then some clips for some of the stuff that you need to clip once they get opened. Like Bill's Cheetos's. Yes, he is addicted to them for some reason.
I guess I should get to going. I want to check the e-mails that I got yesterday since I haven't done it since yesterday morning. Boy those things can really add up.
I am sending everyone love and big hugs to know that I care and special prayers are going up for everyone. Have a wonderful day and I am hoping that I can check in before tomorrow morning. I hate being so out of it.
