Good Morning Mary and My OFF Family,
Hope you are all doing well today. For those of you who are sick or having other difficulties know that you are all in my prayers for all that you need. God knows exactly what it is!!
I would like to request prayer for a cousin of mine who is around 60 years old. He had fought a battle with cancer and while he is cancer free now his heart is failing. The doctors have told him that his only chance for survival is a heart transplant but Duke had refused to do one because of the past history of cancer. He is at Duke and they are doing a new test and I am told going to try a new fangled thing that he will have to wear on his belt to send electric shocks to the heart and keep it going, some kind of defib type of thing. I don't know exactly what it is, but things don't sound good. I am also concerned about his 19-20 year old daughter they lost her mother to cancer when she was around 11-12 and he has raised her on his own. He is really all the immediate family she has. His mom has alzhimers and is in a nursing home. Enough of that just pray for Johnny and his family. Thanks.
Other than that I guess I am doing fine. Real Estate still sucks! I had desk duty yesterday afternoon and the phone did not ring once! No walk ins! Nothing! Something has to give around here. I will be completely broke before much longer!!!
Oh well, I must say that we will not go hungry thanks to the 24 years that DH spent serving in the Navy! That is a real blessing and is what keeps us going.
We are not giving Christmas presents like we usually do this year. The grandkids are the only ones who are gettin them. My children are grown and we all agreed that we would not exchange gifts this year. The economy is just too tight for everyone! We will be going up to VA Beach for Christmas again this year. We have been going up there for the holidays for the last 10-11 years. Our DD goes with us so the family is all together. We leave this year in the wee hours on the 24th and return on the 27th. I can't wait!! I sure miss my grandchildren! They all live up there so visits are only 2-3 times a year.
Enough from me! Ya'll take care now!
Hugs,
Mary, I know that what you are doing is a lot of work but it is so good to be able to sit back and see the accomplishments that you have done. Good luck on all the painting and such.
It is cold here this morning~or at least it is to me and that is all I care about. Others are on their own on keeping warm. It is not snowing or anything right now. It did turn to sleet last night when I came out of the grocery store. I went in and it was doing nothing and then a few minutes later on my way out it is sleeting to beat the band. I got home and just stayed here. I called and told them that I was not going to the meeting and they all understood. I am just not taking chances for a meeting that just usually ends up frustrating me anyway.
I am going to my cousin's house in a bit to help wrap bingo prizes for the family Christmas party that is Sunday afternoon. I am looking forward to it in a way and yet in another I am just not. I am not sure if it is going to be what we are use to. My cousin just is doing the minimum and we are usually use to a bit more. I mean she isn't even going to have tablecloths~come on how much does it take? I mean we are all paying money toward this. I did it complete with tablecloths and pop when I did it. I even got the centerpieces and she can't do that either. I told her that I would go to the dollar store and get some centerpieces for the cloth less tables. I am not sure just what to expect. Then she asked me if I had a problem with one of my cousin's wife and I told her no why. Well, she told me that she was thinking of asking her over to help wrap and didn't want a fight to break out in her house. Well, excuse me~we aren't a bunch of rednecks getting together. We are a normal family that at times has their disagreements but we don't turn into the kind of family that implied. Not by a long shot. I was a bit upset about it. I told my sister and she was too. Oh well.
I guess I should get going. I have some things to do before leaving for the wrapping. I am sending love and hugs to all and special prayers are going up for everyone. Have a wonderful day and either stay warm or stay cool. If you are in a spot that is perfect just think how lucky you are!
It's sunny today but cold ... brrr, it's 25 degrees but at least it's not snowing. It was a little dicey driving home last night as it was snowing and the freezing rain that preceeded it made it quite a mess. The one thing bad about the sun is that it makes my meowing Christmas wreath go off all day. I just had to turn it off. It was about to drive me crazy!
My cleaning lady shampooed the poop spots on my rug last night. She got some of them out, but I think I'm just going to have to have the carpets professionally cleaned when the weather gets warmer. I don't think her little shampooer is going to do it. She's going to try to get them out again, putting some spot stainer remover on them, but I just think unless I have them professionally cleaned, it's in there for life. Oh well, it's just carpet, and I want to have it ripped up eventually when I get money and have wood laminate floors put in ... easier with the cats and my allergies.
Got a call this morning from my doctor ... my bloodwork came back and my potassium is a little low. He thinks it's because of the diuretic I'm taking and wants me to take a potassium supplement before I have surgery and then repeat the bloodwork Dec. 18. Great, my potassium was low before WLS too ... have you ever had IV potassium before? Extremely painful! I don't want to go through that again. I asked whether I should quit taking the diuretic ... the nurse who called said no ****ep having this problem with swollen legs for no apparent reason).
I cut out the treats last night for the cats ... Diva got a couple pieces of turkey and that was it (I offered it the other cats, but no takers). I gave them some catnip instead (they enjoyed that!). So no cat vomit, no poop on the rug, things look good. Diva did throw up her breakfast this morning, but this is the last day they're getting canned food and the chicken/rice mixture anyway because I'm out of canned food and the chicken/rice mixture didn't seem to help.
Mary, I have a few more Christmas gifts to get and wrap ... I have to finish my stuff before Saturday because my famiily's gathering is Sunday. I have to buy my mom's SF candy and Margie's SF candy at this great candy store in Grand Rapids ... they have the best candy, SF or otherwise. Really good dark chocolate turtles. Then I have to buy something else for my grandnephew Sam, who's 4 (he's kind of creative, so it will be something from Michaels). Got to get something for the cats yet, too, but that's small. Like I said, I'm almost done. And I have to get packages out in the mail to Margie in South Dakota and others.
Lots to do before I head to Chicago on Saturday. Hope the weather is good. I'm so looking forward to seeing my family. I haven't seen everyone since April. I miss them so much (well, most of them ... probably not my sister, though ... sorry, some of our relatives aren't as dear). I hope to see my Aunt Bernice, who's 90 and my last living aunt. She's in a nursing home and at times begins to fade, but then ralllies. She's a tough old bird ... she had ovarian cancer at 60, a tumor as big as a grapefruit was removed and she is still alive. So much for ovarian cancer being fatal! She says she's ready to die now, but she keeps coming back.
Well, have a good day.
Good afternoon all,
Today is supposed to be a day of rest today, but I will be doing some cleaning, laundry and shoveling. After last nights few inches of snow. I have been busy all month with my family, my sister from Fla. and her family have been her to say their last goodbyes to my Dad. He was diagnosed 2 years ago with pancreatic cancer. Recently, he has been given 3-4 months as the cancer has spread. This week we had my nephew here from N.C. He is stationed there in the coast guard.
DH is laid off right now, but they have been working him some ( I guess this is called a semi- hard layoff).
On the up side, the snow here today is beautiful and the sun is shining. It is a good day for a brisk walk ( Nancy H. from Traverse City, where are you girl ???????????? I need a walking partener).
Have a Great Day All
Nan
