NO MaryAnn 53 is really young especially when you get the weight off and feel like doing things again...i just wish i was your age. Im 67 almost 68 and had surgery when i was 65...i now feel like i am in my 40s again...wish i could have had it done when i was in my early 50s like you. whooooo hooo i would have kicked up my heels then. lol ....believe it or not 53 isnt old it juslateels old right now...you wont later. i was in size 24s now am size 10s   feel wonderful and no one believes im my age with all i do. ....welcome and you are in for one of the greatest rides in the world.

MaryAnn,

I turned 53  December 2007 and on January 28, 2007 a little more than a month later I had my surgery. This year on my birthday I will be 90+ lbs lighter. FIFTY is the NEW 30 ! So, you're only about 33 right ??? After you have your surgery and start losing weight you will feel 30 again.
Good Luck, February will be here before you know it.

I was 52 when I had my VSG.  All I can say is HECK NO you are not too old.  You will feel like a million bucks when you lose all your extra weight and emerge from your cocoon.

I have absolutely no regrets (except not doing it sooner!)

No you are certainly not too old!  I had a revision from lapband to RNY on 9/22 about a week before my 60th birthday. I feel younger every day and you will too! Good luck!

Is  53  too old ???   I think so.....  too old to be unhealthy, overweight, miserable and frustrated. 53 is a good age.  You will feel soooo much better after surgery.  I'm sorry to hear you had to wait for 8 years. Your life and lifestyle will be so much better after surgery and you will feel younger.   Don't be confused,  make up your mind to feel young and healthy again.....  Millie
