Anyone experiencing jealousy issues from friends & family?

My son is FREAKED OUT about the new me for sure. He is 25 and has never seen me less than 205 pounds (and he was very young then!). My sister should remember me about this size many years ago but claims she doesn't. Yes she was always the cute one ... the attention grabber. I think in many ways she is happy for me and even proud of me but I still detect that little bit of envy. My middle sister hasn't seen me since late September and she was shocked then. I will have to e-mail her my pics. She would not be jealous since she has weight issues too. I think that my gf is upset that I am smaller than her now. I hope she can get over it ... geez. I am not incompetition with a 28 year old for crying out loud. My long time gf lives a few hours away. I sent her my pics (e-mail) and never heard back from her. hmmmmmmm

Sorry to hear you are experiencing these jealousies.    It's so catty, but it happens to many who have lost a significant amount of weight.

Keep enjoying your hard worked for body and just enjoy your life!   The problem is theirs, not yours.

I think it is a hoot! My "friends" don't know what to think of me. I was the big one. I was the one who didn't get all of the attention...but I did get some.  Now, the tables have turned and I have been known to stop traffic. LOL

Hey. the way I see it, those type of "friends" really weren't your friends to begin with. They hung around you because you made them look better than what they really were. Now you are a threat. You may get the guys that they feel they should have gotten. With you in the room, they might as well be sofa or an ottoman. You shine, beam, and glow. They diminish into the background, like a peice of furniture.

It's not your fault! have fun with it!

That was then.... but this is now......

I've been pretty lucky. Most of my friends are pretty fit and so their main reaction has been to be happy I'm doing something to get more fit too. I do have a few heavy friends and they've been pretty happy for me too. Maybe that will change when I get closer to goal, but I'm not anticipating it.

I did have an experience of going out to eat with an old friend and he kept saying "I feel so fat" because I was eating so much less then him. He does eat a lot but so does my dh and he was there eating away. So it was just him and his defensiveness about his weight.

My dh has probably had the worst reaction... he has gone nuts eating since my surgery. For a while, every day I came home from work late, he'd take the kids to McDonald's! But he's been flattering about the actual weight loss and supportive about not bringing junk into the house, so I can't really complain. It's just frustrating that he's getting more unhealthy as I get healhier.
