What's new Saturday!

Good morning my OFF family:

I'm about to tear out my hair (of course, that's figuratively ... I'd look pretty funny bald). I locked Diva in my bathroom ... it closes with a regular knobbed door and then a sliding door between the full bath and the half bath (Carla and Paulette, who have been here, you can attest to my crazy bathrooms). Well, my cat is an escape artist.

I spent most of the night feeling guilty about doing this. I stopped off at Meijer at the way home, since 6 more inches of snow are forecast for tomorrow and I needed a few things from the store. Got home about 1, looked in the small bedroom (which I had left open ... figured Diva's locked in the bathroom, so I can let the other cats in here. Well, there was a big pile of runny cat poop on the floor where the cat tower used to be. I thought, so it's not Diva ... who could it be? Then I looked in the bathroom and she wasn't in there ... the sliding door was slightly open. And there was Diva, sitting under the Christmas tree. I was so angry! I should have known better ... she can open doors! I've seen her open my closet doors. So I can't do this ... I can't lock her in the bathroom when I'm gone ... there is no room in the house I can lock her in that doesn't have carpeting that has secure doors. This is a failed experiment. Diva, needless to say, did not get her treats tonight ... the other cats got treats and she had to watch.

Plus, I'm going to Chicago this weekend. I'm going to be gone for four days probably. I couldn't leave her locked in the bathroom for four days. Someone will have to come in and make sure she's not pooping on the rugs. I may have to ask Gayle if she's available, or my cleaning lady, who has said she'd do it because her girls love to play with the cats.

The other news of the day was my lost shipment from Netrition. Seems the UPS driver can't spell ... he delivered it to Bent Tree Drive instead of Bent Tree Court. Now, granted, they have the same number as mine ... but the street name is different. And I got another package on the same day from UPS, and it made it here. It was sitting there at the other address since Wednesday, with three bottles of SF German chocolate syrup (I can't buy it around here and I love it) ... and it's gotten below 30 degrees, so it was a little slushy but not frozen yet. However ... another night there and it would have been. And it would have been there longer but the woman who lives there came home and found it sitting there, called the condo association and asked if they would call me and ask me to come get my package. So out in the snow I went, bad knee and back and all, to get my package (OK, so I drove, but the weather was horrible ... it wasn't far, but it's the principle ... I paid for UPS to deliver it to my door, not to someone else's door). In the end, Netrition refunded my shipping (all $4.95 ... their shipping fees are cheap).

Interesting story in the paper tomorrow ... we have a thief in the area going to Salvation Army Angel Trees and taking toys to return to department stores for cash. Isn't that horrible? They have photos of this woman from the security cameras. How low can you go?

Well, have a good day. I'm not leaving the house today other than to get the mail and to restraighten my light-up deer, who is starting to fall over from the snow.

Good morning Eileen i started to start the new post here when i first woke up at 1am but didnt figure that all the new people on here would know who i was. I hate to say that i havent been able to be on and posting much..I read every day but dont have time to post most of the time.

Now that summer is over and it is cold out i am being forced inside i am hoping to find a lot of the goodie but oldies on here more too. Sorry to hear of the trouble you are having with your cat. That is a really bad smell to when it gets in carpeting and such..i know you hate taking her back to the person you got her from. but dont know what else you cn try. i dont know of anything you can try that you havent already done. Im actually not a cat person. i think they are beautiful but dayhave never owned one. I do know that pets can become a lot more than just a pet to us. I hope you figure it out soon.

it has been really cold here already. i am so cold that i dont know what will warm me up again. Ive got some sort of allergy going big time. i just sneeze and sneeze . my nose is so raw . ugh i hate winter....maybe i need to sell every thing and buy a motor home ...go south for the winter.

well im going to go see if i can get any more sleep at all. had maybe 2 hours all night. have a great day

Good Morning Eileen and OFF!
BRRRR it's a cold one here in NW Ohio, it also sounds like we are supposed to get some snow and ice today.  Not good for people driving to my house (I HOPE!) long distances.  The house is about as ready as it ever will be. I bought 3 pork roasts yesterday at WalMart and plan to fix those. (they were marked down, and they are so good!  Hormel makes them and they are very lean and juicy-I can even eat this with no gravy or anything to moisten it up because they are so moist!)
The 2 kitties still are very leery of me trying to pick them up.  HA, they won't even let me do that YET and it has been 2 weeks that I have had them.  We'll see.
Angus and Daphne have been outside and fed and outside again.  Probably sleeping it off right about now.   Not much else to report, hope all have a great Saturday and weekend!  Party on!

Good Morning Eileen and my dear OFF friends,

Eileen sorry to hear read about all the problems with Diva.  She is a beautiful cat, very smart and resourceful too!.  Apparently she didn't like her time out place though..,  If it wasn't for the poop you'd have to laugh. But my prayers are with you for a solution.

I made it through a very difficult week. My friend's funeral was Wednesday.  I want to thank you all for your kind words, prayers, love and support.

It was very busy week with my granddaughters.  My daughter loves her new job and Earl & I are adjusting to ours of being full time (6:30 am to 6:30 pm) sitters, chauffeurs, boo-boo fixers etc....
Cheyanne had her first sleep over last night at church with her girls youth group. so Sami had to have a sleepover at Nana & Papa's.  It was her first night here alone without her sister.  I was afraid she wouldn't stay all night since she is such a mama's girl.  But she fell asleep on the couch at 10pm and is still asleep so it was a very good night!

Today is our 30th Annual Cookie Bake Party and Cookie Exchange.  I started hosting this the year my daughter Jen turned one.  Some years we have had as many as 25 people baking and decorating, family and friends. This year there will be just 7-8 of us, as my son-in-laws family decided to skip it due to various reasons.  Oh well, I kind of expected it with the pending divorce.  It will be different without Char ( my friend who passed away)  here too, but I will bring a tray of cookies to David  (her husband).  One of the things I like best about the Cookie party is that I can bake all the wonderful kinds I love to make and give them all away.  My share of the goodies get put in the freezer and I do trays for our neighbors and family who couldn't attend.  I love spending the time with my daughter & her girls, her friends and their children and my friends and their children or grands as the case may be.  Whether its a big crowd or a small crowd it gets us all in the Christmas Spirit.

Well time to get the first cuppa coffee........then get in baker/decorator mode LOL!

Have a great weekend, Hugs, Paulette

Oh Carla, how low can you go? ha ha

We are getting snow and wind this morning and from the looks of it there is going to be some shoveling to do here and it most certainly won't be the sun either. Haven't seen that thing (whatever it is) all day.
I hope that you have a good sunny day and think of us having a good snowy day! I am sure I am not alone in that kind of day.

Love you anyway!!

Carla, how cruel! We are getting pounded with lake-effect snow ... 6 inches yesterday and another 6 today ... any newspaper jobs down there? I don't think there are any newspaper jobs anywhere, actually.

I want a cookie baking party too ... used to have them with my friend Roxane. We used to bake cookies and get drunk and eat pizza all weekend. I'm sure we couldn't do them now with her two kids. I miss them a lot ... I miss the old Roxane a lot. I miss our old friendship. It will never be the same. I may bake some cookies today too ... and muffins or bread. I have all the ingredients finally for Bruce's almond breakfast cookies (almond butter, almond flour, honey ... I'm going to add some protein powder to amp up the protein ... and some almonds and raisins too). They are so moist and good ... I had some when I was in Lubbock ... just one for breakfast daily, not pigging out on them of course. Yummy!

Morning.  Not a good night last night.  On the way to the recital, my car overheated.  Drove it about 10 miles to a Pep Boys.  Had to leave it there.  Who knows what it will cost to repair.  Hopefully just a thermostat and radiator flush.  It is not a good time of year for this to happen.
