Think maybe he is feeling threatened at the thought of you getting slim and him not?
He may really want t help you but is afraid of how your life may be after you lose all that weight, after all you have probably been pig out buddies for some time.
That's how it was for me and mine but we talked it through over several months and he is now trying to lose some weight too and help me stay on the plan I need to follow.  Good luck

HI

Yes, I think that is what is happening.  I remember it happening once before when I lost 70 lbs using Jenny Craig.

I should tell you all that he is 14 years older than me, he'll be 70 in March. I am 56.    If ever there was a man 'set in his ways' it is my DH.      The age span wasn't so great when we were dating at 22/35 but now, it's light years.

One of the reasons too I am working this hard to lose weight and to have the surgery is that I am having so many health issues, many co-morbidities, and I realize that I may very well be alone in my retirement.  My hsuband's  health, tho ok, is not good.  I want to be healthy and strong to take care of ME but also of HIM if he needs it in his later years.   And, if I am alone in my retirement, I want to be healthy and strong enough to live a long active life.    I work in a nursing home where I see residents every day being lifted by machines when they fall because they are so obese .    It scares the living daylights out of me that that could be me in the future.

So I'll work around the big bags of cookies, the cinnamon buns, annies pretzels and big bowls of fetticuine alfredo and just keep on, keeping on!    Thanks for your post. I appreciate it.

Linda

linda..i keep seeing similarities-my michael just turned 69--i will be 55 - so 14 years also-
and michael is our cook- most of the time he will use things like molasses or splenda etc to make things healthier for me -but he continues to make many things that i really should not have-and we argue about the stupidest things...

there is different health history tho about michael- he is not overweight but has issues and an industrial accident so we have "stuff"...sorry that doesn't make more sense but i am too pooped to try to make sense right now! i do see many insecurities on michael's part-thinking i would leav ehim...right now if i left it would be to be alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just keep stickin! i saw your response to me above and i believe you!!!

whoever says that having wls is the "easy way" should be shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hugs!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
