Thanksgiving Reflection

I had planned on this holiday being over before I knew it with a kind of a "nice" feeling.  I didn't expect the warm gratitude and all around loving feelings with my family.

Background....  I have three grown sons, each with their families.  The oldest is in Iraq with his family nearby here, the second lives in Oregon and the youngest lives within a mile from me.

The second son & family came up for the holiday.  They arrived on Tues. so we have 4 days together.  They stopped by here on Tues for a few hours then we headed to the youngest sons for dinner.  Had great laughs, "good times" was the slogan of the day.

Wed I was invited to go with the dau in laws along with the granddaughters to the movie.... Twilight .... then off to the eldest home where we again watched a chick flick, had pizza, snacks etc. We got comfy in our jammies and just hung out.  We all spent the night....  how fun was that...  girls all sprawled out on couches the floor etc....  The guys were all at my youngest home.. a guy thing.

The next morning as we sat around the table with morning coffee I was listening and marveling at how well all the dau in laws got along and how I was included in this.  We were talking about family traditions and how they have incorporated them into their life now.  Many of their Christmas traditions came about from my sons upbringing.  Wow...  talk about warm my heart.

Of course Thanksgiving dinner was late since we had a late morning.  The fun and laughter continued through the day.  The parents of one DIL was there.   This "mom" and I hit it off so well that the kids have to keep us apart cause we get silly.

The grandkids get along very well too.  No snits or tantrums or being rude.  Just nice fun joking and laughing.  Of course the boys were all wound up and full of mischief.

Friday I took the two grandsons to an indoor game place... they played laser tag and jumped around on the play equipment for about 3 hours.  What a great place for kids.  This was their birthday present from me.  Good Times.

Today we are going to a nearby town to do some shopping.  This is more of a fun shopping.  Mainly antique shops, coffee shops, book shops.  The unusual quaint type things, all decked out for Christmas.

Today I'm so very thankful for my kids and family.  Thankful for the many blessings God has given me.  All those years of questions and frustrations; its nice to see the family content.

This has been a Thankful Thanksgiving for me.  Just wish Mom was home to share this with.

Millie, thanks for sharing the wonderful time that you have had. It makes the start of our Holiday Season step off on a positive and loving foot.

You have made so many warm and loving memories with this Thanksgiving and I have a feeling that many more are going to be tucked away for future thoughts. Each one of them more loving the last one. That is the magic of the Holidays~all of the memories and the love just overflowing and abounding.

Thanks again for the sharing and allowing us to feel the warmth and love that you have these last few days.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
