What's new Saturday!

Hi my OFF family:

I was going to go to bed, but before I did, I checked the front bedroom ... it smelled awfully bad, and I saw the newspapers I had put on the cat tower had been moved. Yup, Diva had struck again. Well, at least she hit the newspapers this time, but this is really bad. It was all diarrheal and very foul smelly, worse than usual, and I'm really worried now. I've been feeding her nothing but the bland diet that I got from the vet, no treats, nothing, not even bits of turkey ... so she shouldn't have loose BMs like this. This isn't good. I'm not happy at all. She should be getting better, not worse. I'm so upset I can't sleep, so I thought I'd start the thread. Can't call the vet til Monday. So much for spending all that money on the bland diet ... might as well go back to the other food. She's not making any progress on this. I don't know what else to do with her. Yes, I need to get rid of the cat tower, but there is something seriously wrong with her if she is having this problem. I just don't know what else to  do with her. This was supposed to fix it.

Work was so slow tonight ... and my knee hurt so much ... I thought we'd never get out of there. We had to wait for the state championship football game to be decided (our local team won). Then I got home and started watching Akeelah and the Bee (I had DVR'd it). It was really good, I enjoyed it. But now I'm worried about Diva and can't sleep. She's sitting on my recliner, all comfy, looking very cozy (they love the new chair, Paulette).

Well, maybe I'll go read in bed for awhile. Have a good day.

I'm wondering if it's the change in her food?  my vet told me to introduce new food gradually.  When you change all at once it throws their digestion off.  Do you give hairball treats???  Fluffy was throwing up all the time the last couple weeks and I was remiss in giving her hairball treatments......she hacked up a huge one and since then I have given her the treats twice a week and no messes since.  Could Diva be getting into something in your house.....a plant, or some food left uncovered?
I agree you really need to toss the cat tower....it will still have a smell to the cats and they will continue to use it for a potty.

Fluffy seems better but is still drinking lots of water.
I need to get her to the vet, but I'm afraid she might have diabetes and if she does I would never be able to give her shots.....she bites horribly.

Hope you can resolve this without too much expense, Eileen.  Why not just call the vets office first and ask.

Keeping you in my prayers,
Hugs,
Pat R.

Well, usually I would introduce the food gradually, mix it in with the old food, but this vet (actually the receptionist) said just give them the bland food diet, nothing else but that and water, no treats or anything else. Well, it didn't work. It got worse. Just for Diva, the other two cats were fine. So that tells me it's not the diet, it's Diva.  She's been to the vet and he examined her and said she was fine, but I think we need to do blood work because something is happening inside that he's not seeing.

Unfortunately, that's going to cost me money that I really don't have.

I hope your kitty starts feeling better.  Be sure she stays hydrated.

My son took his dogs home yesterday afternoon.  It was too late when the kids left on Thursday.  Then yesterday morning our DIL decided to shampoo her carpet while the dogs and everyone were out of the house.  They are very good dogs, and good company while they are here.  But I am happy when they go home after a week.  A little like grandkids.

Today I have spaghetti sauce in the crock pot.  We are all a little tired of Thanksgiving fare.  I'll be eating the sauce only, no pasta.  Had only one grandson spend the night last night, and I just finished fixing his breakfast.  It's a schmutzy day here today, so old movies and comfort food all day.

I hope everyone survived 'black Friday' and found all the bargains they were looking for.

I'm unsurviving Black Friday. I've got to already do returns.... and I'd rather chew leather.

Will be a sunny day here, I think.

Later...for updates.

Good morning all.........must be a lot of us are sleeping in this morning......it's after 9 a.m. here and only a few posts so far.

I couldn't get to sleep last nite.....don't know why.  I worked in the a.m., went to Wal Mart for a bit of shopping at noon, then came home and cleaned the house.  Finished towel #3 and found that the pattern I chose for the next one is too big to fit in the insert on the towel......plan B, I guess.  Ordered some aida cloth from JoAnn Fabrics ONLINE, because I can't get it locally anymore.  It was on sale for $1.95 with free shipping.....yea!

This morning I have done a load of laundry, put ham and beans in the slow cooker, and washed dishes and cleaned the kitchen.   I am going out to the local Hallmark store to get a Yankee Candle my DIL has on her list....plus they are having a 40% off sale on quite a few really nice items....so will browse a bit.  Then home
to work on cross stitch, listen to my Jim Brickman Christmas CD and enjoy the sunshine.  It's 20 degrees here this morning.

OMG, I got my gas bill for November and it was $110
....used the same amount of gas as last year in Nov. and the cost was $35 more this year.....yikes!  So I'm turning down the t-stat and running my electric fireplace.  It keeps it pretty toasty in the living room area, but the rest of the house is pretty chilly.

Off to shop now......got a couple e-mails from DS and DIL in Mexico.....the resort where they are staying is gorgeous and he said they are treated royally.  They will be home Sunday nite really late.  We're supposed to have snow here so pray they get back safely.

Have a wonderful Saturday.

Hugs,
Pat R.

Good Morning, All

I'm up and semi-functional after working my double shift yesterday.  It takes me a while to get moving, no matter how late I sleep.

I had to smile at all the brave souls who ventured out on Black Friday.  My daughter-in-law and her Mom do it every year.  I understand it's a great bonding experience.  Not for me!  The crowds and the confusion!  I'd much rather bond in a warm kitchen, making cookies or just having a nice cuppa..

Unlike most people (other than Janet, of course), I'll be returning things today instead of buying.  I picked up a nice Bunn coffeemaker for work, brought it in Thursday, set it up, and it takes 15 minutes to brew a pot of coffee, then continues to drip.  My $15 coffeemakers don't do that, let alone a $150. Bunn!  So, will return it as defective, and hope to find another, although the store where I bought it says they're out of stock.  I KNEW the sale price was too good!

I just put a "freebie" ad in the local newspaper to try to sell some "collectibles" that I no longer want that have been sitting in a big box in the basement for years.  I don't think they even make the Partylight tea houses anymore, but maybe someone will want to complete a collection.  I was going to put them on E Bay, but didn't want to hassle or shipping costs, which would probably be more than I sell them for.  It's funny, the older I get, the less clutter I want.  I do have some favorite things that I keep and enjoy, but so much of the "stuff" I HAD to have in the past means so little to me now.  Now it's about people, not things.  As a result, I just keep getting rid of things.

If the ads don't work, there's Freecycle.

Gotta go get dressed and head for the mall.  I am NOT happy!

Everone have a good weekend.

Morning Eileen and all,

Just managed to drag myself out of bed (and I mean drag) so thought I'd stop online to say hello since I've been missing in action for awhile.

My back and leg have really gotten worse in the past week.  I can hardly get up anymore.   In order to get out of bed, I have to lean on dresser and slowly pull myself up.  It's very painful.  Needless to say, I finally broke down and went to see the spine specialist last week.  I'm scheduled to get the spinal injection on Tuesday.  I waited about two weeks too long to make this decision.  I sure hope it helps.

Hope everyone got the directory.  I sure appreciate Joyce getting it out to everyone.  Sorry it took so long.  I wanted to get it out earlier for Christmas cards, but I couldn't stand sitting long periods of time.

We're having the Indiana Ornament Exchange at our house next Saturday and I haven't even gotten the house ready.   A friend is coming over today to move furniture and help decorate.  We're expecting about 60 people here.

Hope everyone is doing well and had a great Thanksgiving.

Brotherly hugs,

Floyd
