Luckily I found a 6 1/2 ft prelit tree at Garden Ridge.  I can put it up in a matter of minutes and shouldn't hurt myself.  I can't carry the ornaments in but I'll get Mike to do that for me.

I am going to start wrapping and marking boxes.  I've got a little zip now... that I didn't have yesterday.

I've got a 4 ft Karaoke Santa that I'll put on the hearth... he sings and dances.

AND...if I can get all this accomplished EARLY, I think I'll have a party.

Well you have 24 plus days do a little at a time.   You can get it done.   You might be making a really good memory for the kids.

My daughter and son  have had a tradition I did not know about until last year.   The $10 crap gift... Here is how it goes you have to spend $10 on the crappiest gift you can find in Walmart and the trick is you have only 30 minutes to do it and can not see each other when you do it.    It was so much fun last year we all laughed for hours on Christmas day...

Another one we had for years was on Thanksgiving and Christmas.   the kids were older 7 to 14 after dinner when the men watched the game  (thru there eyelids) we woman would take the kids to the movies as a big family and watch a fun family movie ...It was great we all got to do something together and then when we got back we were ready for dessert.    We were talking about that yesterday...the kids are too small and not old enought to appreciate the family gathering.   It was really special for our Mothers who never got to go to the movies alot and watching it with their grandkids kids was really special.

I LOVE the $10 crap gift tradition!  I think I'll adopt that for my family.  And the movies with the little kids too!

When we have our family Christmas gtg we always do something a little strange....

One year we had to learn and sing a Christmas song... but if the person next to you sang YOUR song, you had to sing a different one. Being on the end was trecherous... do you have any clue how many verses there are to Home For The Holidays?  And my brother learned every one of them.  By the time he finished, we were ready to kill him.

One year we had a garage sale Christmas... just to prove it's better to give than receive.  The rules were that it had to be perfect for the person whose name we drew.  I got a lace-up corset.  I gave an industrial time clock decorated in flowers with real time cards so that you had to clock in and out of the bathroom. When you only have one bathroom, time is important.  My husband got a blue bust of Nefertiti... and for some reason it didn't get thrown out but put in the shed... when I found it the next year I just decided for a gag gift, I'd wrap it up and give it to someone else. I took a MarksALot and put the year 1982 and my husbands name, and 1983 and my BIL's name with a card attached that said it had to be prominently displayed in the living room for a year.  Well, that was 1982... I have Nefertiti sitting on my hearth.  It has every date that it's been passed...it has every birth date of new family members, and dates of those we have lost.  It has become our family history. This year it will be carefully packed in a box and wrapped for another family member with 2008 on it and passed again.

We have drawn names and had to call into "Christmas Central" for directions on where to go on the scavenger hunt on Christmas morning before we could get to our destination.

We put the fun back in dysfunctional.

Snickering,  chortling, guffawing, and knowing exactly what you are going through.      Janet, you are just too much girl.  LOL  Put on your favorite Christmas music, a nice apron, sprinkle a little flour around the kitchen, hide the cans, bake store bought cookie dough and you will be fine.   Adding a few ingredients to deli food makes them taste homemade. And wah lah instant smell and taste of christmas. lol lol

The biggest thing is to make the kids feel so welcome and at home that they will wonder why they didn't come more often.  I hope you have a great day.

You go girl!! You are going to be the hostess with the most-est this Christmas! Everyone is going to wonder why they waited for this wonderful new Christmas tradition!!!

Just make sure you take a deep breath and jump in feet first and before you know it December 26th will be here! And you, my dear girl, will have some fantastic memories to cherish!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
