I think it's Friday now-What's New?

Our Thanksgiving went really well. There were 23 of us. My Sister cooked the dinner and I made the desserts. After dinner was over we asked what was everyones fav. Then my sister explained to them that they had all eaten healthy food and desserts. They all said, they couldn't tell the difference and that it tasted really good. So we know they enjoyed it as much as we did. My sister has had RNY too. So now they know they can have food that tastes good and not have to be so fattening or full of sugar. So dinner was a big hit. There's a few of our family members that need help with the weight issue. So it was our way to help them see that all food is good it's the way you prepare it that changes it. I hope we set a good example for them. Maybe some of them will get their act together. We want to make sure they will be around for another Thanksgiving.

One other good thing my niece told me she has some pants that are my size and she will get them too me. Yay. I had on a pair of her pants Thanksgiving. That is truely weird getting hand me downs from my niece. I'll gladly take the jeans. It costs too much to get new clothes. She always buys good clothes. So that's how our day went. Tonight I have to go back to work. I have to work all weekend.  Teresa M.

Hi Debbie and the rest of the OFF Family!

Glad to hear you had a nice TG dinner, I miss the days of doing all the preparation and cooking, though I do remember that it got a bit overwhelming the last couple of times, but that was because I was cooking in someone else's kitchen instead of my own, now I enjoy helping instead of doing all the work ;)

We had 14 people and it was a really nice dinner, though I did not eat much, just some turkey, brocolli, spoonful of my sweet potatoes and even my stuffing which was always the thing I loved most (made with chestnuts) was not all that appealing, the festivities this year were reallly about just being together and thankful for what we have, which for me is largely about my health and the people who I've come to know and my family and friends, it was truly one of the best TG's ever for me.  There were a couple of WOW moments, when my children's stepmom, Trudy, could not get over my total transformation.

Well today, for the 1st time ever, I am going to brave Black Friday with my 2 daughters and we will have lunch together, as tomorrow I will be heading home via NC, expecting to arrive home by Sunday night and back to my reality on Tuesday.  My Monday will have me dealing with the contractors working on my home, finalizing where the new closet space will be, as well as going over the details for my master bathroom, the addition should be done by Christmas, though the bathroom part of things will be completed in January.

I guess that's enough jibberjabber from me. . .

Wishing you a wonderful post-TG day!

Hugs, prayers and positive thoughts, Laureen

good morning Debbie & OFFers,

Our day went well. It really was about the family more than the food. The food was excellent, don't get me wrong, but I had a good time without stuffing myself.

Mary took me aside and said how much she appreciates that her father and I can get together for holidays without problems. Pat myself on the back and will give him credit for that too.

Matthew and Melanie were their usual spirited selves. Matthew involved me in our game of "Run, WALRUS". The X's lady friend said we must do that often. Oh yeah,we sure do.

Melanie noticed that I was wearing a dress. It was a V-neck which caught her interest. Much to Tom's glee, she grabbed my chest, pulled and proclaimed "hmm - stretchy".

Then she decided she wanted to wear grandma's dress. Some how, she managed to crawl inside with me. Up the skirt and into the sleeves, her head poking out of the neckline. Good thing I was wearing slip, cami and leggings to stay decent.

Riding on Poppa's shoulders is always a treat. As she was perched on Tom she sang a song of "I'm tall like you, you're tall like me" at the top of her lungs.

After eating both kids nestled in my lap and were getting sleepy. Too late for a nap and too early for bedtime. I whispered in their ears that we should sneek outside to see the new Christmas lights, without shoes or jackets. That perked us up. It was brr cold but we didn't stay out for long. Just enough time to rev them up and give us all a giggle.

It was all good.

Kisses

Good Black Friday morning to everyone!

I'm working today so I'm saving money.  A very quiet Thanksgiving with hubby sick.  Didn't even get dressed.  I had fish for dinner and hubby had turkey noodle soup.  We watched alot of recorded programs and some movies on tv and let the day go by.  Talked to both my son and daughter for a long time yesterday.  That's always a good thing.

Woke early so I came to work early.  Planning to try to get some things done but here I am on the computer instead.   The weekend will be filled with cleaning, errands, and hoping hubby feels better soon.

Hope you all have a good day and find the bargains you're looking for if you out among 'em today.

Hugs,

Kathi

Good Morning Debbie and everyone.........

I too had a nice Thanksgiving. Spent most of the day relaxing with Dwayne. We went to dinner with friends and had a nice evening. Sure did miss my kids though!! Can't wait to see them on Tuesday!!

I am NOT shopping today...I refuse to fight those crazy crowds. I will miss out on some good sales but I will keep my sanity and that is worth it!

Just planning o having a relaxing day....sounds wonderful to me!!

Hope you all are recovered from the holiday. We had plenty to be grateful for this year!!

George...that ham sounds wonderful. I am sure the fresh pineapple really made the difference...yummy!!

Hugs and love to all....connie d

Good morning Debbie and my OFF friends,

Thanksgiving was great, quiet but nice. The kids had to go to her family gathering and it wasn't what she wanted to do. Her mom is addicted to Rx medication and refuses to recognize it. So, while Mom was moping at home the family discussed an intervention. All that made them late to our house, so dinner wasn't until 7:00. It was all good though.

Steve, are you an old Band Geek?  I marched in the Rose Parade my freshman year in HS. We got from San Diego to Pasadena via horse drawn wagon (it was THAT long ago...LOL). Every year I figure out how many years ago that was....getting a little depressing at this point!

Annette, your M&M stories always make me yearn for grands. Maybe someday.

I've already done most of my shopping on line. No Black Friday crowds for this one!  Now I have to go to work to replenish my checking account. Hope everyone has a wonderful day today. Hugs and prayers to all

Good morning, Debbie and my utha OFF Sistahs...

Was up at 4 a.m. and ready to walk in the door at 5 a.m. at Sears in Irving. Not a lot of people at the appliance door... knew there wouldn't be.  They have a frontload washer and dryer for 1/2 off.  $599.  I bought a set for my son, Mike, for Christmas as his washer is going out and he's using my OLD dryer.  He does so much for me during the year and years..... I'm thinking about going back and getting me a set but just don't know if I want to put that much on my card or not.  Mine still work..but I'd sure like to have a set and know if I don't get this deal, later it will cost me well over $1000.

Thanksgiving turned out okay, despite no family gathering. Mike and I were headed to Luby's and got a call from a friend who was cooking for just she and her hubby, so we went there.

Apparently, someone is ******' in my Post Toasties... our 'family' has decided not to get together until Dec 27.  We have ALWAYS gotten together on the 25th.  That leaves me 'homeless and alone' for Christmas this year. I'm livid and can't do a thing about it... so.... the ***** is back.  I'm still shopping like I always do for my family...and wrapping like I usually do, but I'm delivering WELL before Christmas so they can put them under their tree and open them on Christmas Day and will just not attend on the 27th... bite off my nose to spite my face?  Probably.  Do I care? Nope, not this year.  I'm going to try to wrangle the day after Christmas off and maybe just leave town for a few days.... be somewhere with friends for Christmas....and not close to home.  Either that or I'll just get a room at the hotel next to my office on Christmas Eve and work Christmas Day and the day after anyway.

I've already been to $4... came home and took about an hour nappypoo and will now head out again. Tomorrow is thrift store shopping...they won't be crowded.. not that I'm buying anything but do have a friend that is going and I'm going to show her how to shop 'labels'.  It's HER money!!!

Glad everyone had good turkey... me, too.
