Gobble Gobble! What's New Thanksgiving!

Good morning to you, Eileen and all my wonderful OFF family.

I feel like I am back in the fold of home now! Now I know how the little wandering sheep feel! There really is no place like home as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz says!

Today is a busy one for me. We always go to Rick and Ella's house for Thanksgiving but this year Bill decided to make it just the two of us. Well, of course that has bloomed into more than just the two of us. My sister is coming and my niece and her daughter may come too.

Autumn and Billy are at it again and I told her that her and Brittany are more than welcome to come here for dinner. I just wish that she would make the decision to leave him for good. I am so glad that they never got married. I am not one that condones the living arrangements but for this time I am grateful that they are just living together. He can be so good and then it hits and it goes bad! But then again I know for a fact that Autumn is not the easiest person in the world to live with either. She is so different from me~yeah right on that one. Just ask Bill and he will tell you that I am not an easy person to live with either! Autumn can be so much like me with the exception that she is not as big of a ***** than I am! She is still young yet so that may come with time! ha ha

I got the house cleaned while being in the normal world without the computer. So I guess that is one good thing. ha ha I have to mop up the kitchen floor and dust a bit and that should just about wrap up the cleaning. I am so glad that is going to be done soon.

I have to make a cheesecake and get it in the refrigerator. I promised Brittany (my great niece) that I would make sure that she got a piece of cheesecake without the cherry topping. I never knew that she didn't like cherries. I guess you learn something new everyday and yesterday that is what I learned!

I am having ham, sweet potatoes (instant mashed ones), mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole and crescent rolls with real butter (nothing is to good for my family) and then there is going to be cherry cheesecake and pumpkin bread for later. There isn't much but hey I figure I am cooking and everyone should be happy with that one. I hate cooking for holidays! I am so spoiled from Ella. She just has me bring a dessert and dinner rolls. Now that is a lot of food that I am fixing judging what I usually fix for Thanksgiving!

I hope that everyone has a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. May the peace of God be with each and everyone of us! May we always count our blessings instead of looking at the negative that we have in our lives. We must never forget the attitude of gratitude that we must always have!

I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are going up for everyone. I am keeping everyone is special prayers because the way this country is going we all need them for something or other! Remember to smile since that may be the only good thing to happen in someone life today!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Hi All. Happy Thanksgiving! I'm up early because my DH is snoring. My daughter has had a terrible cold and I thing hubby caught it. His brother and girlfriend came last night for a visit and he had the worst cold I've seen in years. It will be a miracle if I don't catch one of these that have been so close. Our house is still torn up- the new floors are almost done- grouting to be completed early next week. Our new kitchen cabinets are in, appliances have been purchased and ready for delivery. So, other than my biopsy and the worry that I have over those possibilities, our house is almost done. It's a crazy month though. We also got the house for our daughter that we have been bidding on. She is going to be half owner, so it's a big event! Her big move should be in a few weeks, opening up her bedroom which is going to be my craft room. For Thanksgiving we are going to Antioch to my brother's house. I am going to try to get a bit more sleep now- wish me luck! By the way, thanks to all of you who expressed good wishes for my cancer appointment and tests. I thought that part of my life was over forever, but I guess once you've had it you are always at a higher risk and it keeps you on your toes. Even if it is back, I feel blessed.

Julia,

Happy Thanksgiving and while I've not been totally in the loop, I want to extend a special prayer for you to receive good news when you get your biopsy results!

Hugs, Laureen

Hi Eileen and everyone
It's not Thanksgiving here in Canada, so I'm off to work shortly.  Even though it's not Thanksgiving, I am very close to the end of the semester, and I am very grateful for that!
Eileen, I know what it's like to have animals doing their business in the house.  I have two German shepherds.  The bigger of the two at 110 pounds, who is a five year old rescue, has been peeing and pooping every day in my house for the last few weeks.  (he has a clean bill of health)  He doesn't do this when I'm at work, which is when I think that there could be a problem.  He does it when I'm home!  I don't get it.  I let him out as soon as I arrive home after work and then several times during the evening.  He never does this in front of me, so I don't know if he's sending me a message or not. He and the smaller German shepherd are not allowed into the part of the house that is carpeted, so I spend half of my evening away from them.  Does he want my attention??  I don't know, but I sure hope to figure this out before he ruins my hardwood floors!
I went out after work yesterday looking for a modern-looking recliner.  I don't like the big, poofy, pub-style ones, so it has taken me weeks to find anything that I like because there seem to be few stores that carry anything but the large, over-stuffed recliners.  Well, I came home with a sleek, wing back  recliner and a leather chair.  Both are more modern looking and I got them for a good price.  The wing chair will go into the living room, and the leather chair will go into my dining room in front of the bay windows to make a little conversation area.  The leather chair had been reduced from $1000.00 to 299.99, so  I'm really pleased all the way around; besides, that shopping spree settled my need for spending money, so I will have to stay out of the stores for a while.
Well, I have to feed the dogs, bring them in and get ready for work.  I will talk to y'all later (see, I've been influenced by y'all!!)
And Julia, I'm keeping you in my thoughts.  I'm a breast cancer survivor too, and I realized after the diagnosis that there are worse things than a diagnosis of breast cancer.  I, too, feel blessed no matter what the future brings.
Happy Thanksgiving to my OFF friends!
Love,  Margaret
I'm also keeping you, George, and everyone else in my prayers, too.

Happy Thanksgiving Eileen & OFF Family!

Wishing you all a safe trip to wherever this holiday takes you and hoping that you are surrounded by loving friends and family!

I've been up making my contribution to the dinner, chestnut stuffing and candied yams and I'm making 2 pumpkin pies, one of which I can partake of.  There will be 14 of us for dinner, including my daughter's b/f's brother and family, so it will be nice.

I am very thankful for the life I have today, with all of you contributing so much and I hope that I can continue to maintain a grateful heart no matter what life brings my way!

God Bless each and every one of you!

Prayers and positive thoughts, Laureen

Happy Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone~

I know I've really been away from OFF what seems like forever...... Been super busy at work and with my crochet projects that I've hardly turned the computer on at all.  I had so many e-mails having not checked the computer in weeks.... it will take me days just to get that all cleaned up.

About a month ago I started crocheting for a baby shower and caught "yarn fever" once again.  I've made oodles of scarves for Christmas presents and am finishing an afghan right now for my sister.  My arm actually hurts I've been at it so long.  It's been really good for me to do this as it's distracted me from food!  Seems I find myself "noshing" at the computer and that is not a good thing.  The good part is the change for me helpe me start losing again.  Still slow but losing!  I'll take anything that I can call progress.

Hubby is sick right now with a bad cold so we cancelled our Thanksgiving plans and will be home today.  Took over 4 hours at urgent care yesterday to merely get an antibiotic prescribed.  Seems he will continue to have repeated infections with his COPD and Emphysema.  So.... endure we must and endure we will.

I hope to read alot today and catch up with all your lives.  I wish everyone a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving.  I do keep each of you in my prayers everyday.

Hugs,

Kathi

hello ! it's still morning so good morning! happy thanksgiving to all -even our Canadians!! i know you don't celebrate today however we are all a blessing to each other in this OFF family! when i count my blessings i really have to include all of the special folk on this board.

thank you to all who commented about my increasing hours at work--as debbie gring pointed out; i won't get bennies cuz i am part time and companies won't go full time if they can help it cuz of having to pay for ins , etc. however; it is a positive step for our finances.

{i still want to move to be closer to my kids so that may all change on a whim--trying to control those whims!!! trying to be fiscally responsible}

an hour or so ago i tried to start this post-had to shut comp down finally and walk away- very very frustrating! dunno if too many ppl on Obesityhelp or if my compis truly trying to die....

so-the dogs have been out -and now they have been bathed- we have had breakfast and i have the Macy parade on--i used to love it but now i just don't get into all of the show vignettes etc...

i'll start making my stuffing in a bit- i make awesome stuffing-nothing special just good! and we will cook a turkey breast a big squash and some gravy, michael will make cranberry stuff - i'll bake a pumpkin pie- store bought so my piece will be small but i have sf coolwhip! it will be just the two of us and i have to call my mom and my dad-i have not spoken to dad in  a very very long while- my bad! - so it will probly be ouchy but i must....

am still knitting away on my hats and scarves for the grands- the scarves are boring to knit so it takes longerthan it maybe should!

michael enjoys football so he will no doubt have the tv going and i'll probly get lost in geneaology land or knitting- or a nap!

eileen- maybe the kittie tower needs to be disposed of? no matter how you clean it she may be going there since it had been dirtied in past??? i know they are not cheap but maybe that would stop it????

i have to tell you about doggie bath time- roxie needed one -not quite sure why but michael felt she did- so she gets hers and then brody just climbs right into the tub--guess he thought he needed one too! ithink the big baby boy wanted attention! so they are both fresh for turkey day!!!! as for attention- wow--they are both such spoiled babies!!!!!

well- i wanted to get this posted since so many may not read later i the day...and send my wishes out for a safe holiday for all of you who are celebrating...and especially for those who are working today- be careful going to and fro!

hugs and special prayers....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Happy Thanksgiving Eileen and everyone on OFF!
Hope all issues are settled today with love and forgiveness!  (George)
Hope all are doing well and ready to enjoy this wonderful holiday with thankfulness and joy.
Well, we got to the dump yesterday with 700# of stuff!  I could hardly believe it all weighed that much!  I know the sleeper sofa (the one that smelled like cat pee) weighed several hundred pounds but didn't think all the other stuff I had was that bad.  Tomorrow I think I will get the garage cleaned and organized.  I also have to get up in the attic to get Christmas decorations etc down.  THAT is a chore!  It's hard enough for me to get the stairs down let alone get them UP, I need Mr Muscle Man Matt to do that for me!  He is going to his fathers I guess for a meal then coming to my parents house.  Mom is cooking today, I think a pork roast, stuffing, green bean casserole and some kind of new pumpkin pie thing that sounds yummy.  At work last week (the hospital has a weigh****cher group with weekly meetings so half the people I work with are on it) someone made some pumpkin fluff, Oh is it good!  1 cup is equivilent to 1 point.  I can forsee this being a pie for Christmas if I get to have Christmas dinner here.  I'm thinking of adding pecans and a graham cracker crust with perhaps a drizzle of carmel or something like that.  We'll see what happens.  I may make some peanut butter balls (the protein balls you all talk about).  that sounds like just the thing for my sweet tooth!  I suppose I should get dressed and cleaned up.  Oh yes, the kitties....still skittish, hissy and swatting.  we'll see.  Maybe Melissa needs some more barn cats if this doesn't work out????

Happy Thanksgiving Alll.
I just got up and it is 1047am. I decided to sleep in.
I just talked to my daughter and her boyfriend. They are safely in Washington DC waiting for the flight to Tampa.
They had to take separate flights from Chicago to DC then Jared had to take a shuttle to the other airport to meet up with Liz. United charged him 30.00 to go from one airport to another. That sucks!!!!! I give it back to him.
I am off today tomorrow and Saturday. I know it will gofast.
Well off to start my day.

Hey Eileen and my OFF friends,

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I hope the day brings all the joy you all so deserve! Eileen, I'm with Margo, perhaps the tower needs to be tossed. You know how animals will mark their territory, maybe that's what he's doing?  Don't know, never had that kind of experience with a pet.

Well, in the spirit of the day I turned my hair cranberry. Not intentionally, mind you!  Everyone at the salon decided I needed to be a little redder and so I added some to my regular formula and the resistant white hair around the temples turned a bright cranberry. So, here I am with round two of the color processing while I do laundry and cook. Thank goodness the kids won't be here until around 5:00, so if I must go to the salon for supplies I have time.

Guess it's better than forgetting to defrost the bird, huh?

Love and hugs to all

Susan
