Good morning Linda,

The holidays get me down too. We are going to my daughter's home for dinner so I have to look at the X, as he sneers and criticizes Melanie's behavior. X believes that children should sit and never speak. My Melanie is very vocal.

He sits with his teacup poodle on his lap the entire time. Through dinner, the jerk. The man needs to get a life.

Wait a minute, this year he is bringing his "lady friend" - yup, that's what he calls her. This should be interesting. We have met once before and she wouldn't look at me or talk. Good grief, we have been divorced for 22 years. She can have him.

I'd better stop, I'm feeling ornery.

Take care today. I don't want to work either. Wanna run away?

Kisses
Annette

Annette,

Your mention of your ex's "lady friend" made me laugh because it reminded me of my dad's 3rd wife, Doris.  Just before she married Dad, she called up my mom and told her that if she (Mom) still loved Dad, she (Doris) would let her (Mom) have him.  Mom said, "We've been divorced for 17 years.  Why would I want him back?"

I'm having a head shaking moment.  What is it with the Xs this year?

Mine won't come to our son's on Thanksgiving because its is too "uncomfortable".   He will come the following weekend for the grandson's 3rd birthday.  Same group of people.   ?????  go figure......

His wife is outgoing except when I'm around.   I've tried to put her at ease and chat with her.  My DIL says it is him not her.   Well, of course she only knows me from what he says.

Nov 30 will be the ten year mark for our divorce.  My son says it's his guilt, yup, I think so too.  I don't want him back but I do think being civil and somewhat friendly at family gatherings would make it easier on the family.  I've made attempts to be friendly and will continue to do so.  Avoiding me is like denying there is a elephant in the house.  (not that I'm an elephant or that size )

He did acknowledge me once.. in church... only to size me up since WLS.  Then went back to his "what elephant?" attitude..  Soooo childish

Well,  I'm off for now...  Millie

Millie,

My X will talk to me, it is Melanie he doesn't like much. She is an energetic 3 year old. He thinks the parents need to give her more discipline. We never agreed on discipline with our daughters either.

They can be so childish at times. That's probably the reason we have
X's.
