Everyone has talked about emotions happening somewhere along the line after having RNY surgery.  I found my self bawling while reading all your well wishes and welcomes home here on OFF.  It feels so good to know others care about you and how you're doing.  What wonderful bunch of LOSERS you all are!!   Also this afternoon I found myself fidgety and at odds with what to do with myself.  I have no pain but am really tired but can't settle down so decided to make a goulash for DH dinner tonight.  At least he'll have something to eat for a few days.  He is completely helpless in the kitchen and has a hard time even using the microwave...He's so good at other things like laundry, vacuuming and loading the dishwasher so I shouldn't complain......after all I spoiled him because I love to cook and intend to keep on keeping on but in smaller quantities and healthier choices.
I have not taken a nap today but I'm thinking maybe I'm "jumping the gun" and think I can keep on doin' what I used to do.  It's only been 5 days....Maybe I'll tell my DH to tie me down or something.  LOL

Love all you people of OFF.

Sandy - I know what you mean about emotions.. I went to the Hickory Surgical Gala a couple of weeks ago and there was a fashion show of people who had had surgery a year ago and wanted to model.  I sat there with tears running down my face at the stunning results.  They had a picture of *before* and then we got to see *after*... Many were at goal.

All I could think - can I really do this??

Now, young lady - you need to let your body rest.  Read a book and fall asleep?  Watch the Weather Channel?? LOL

I am sure your husband appreciates the cooking, but take care of you first.

Emotions?  Us ???   naww...  lol  we just express ourselves   Oh yeah baby,  we surely do.    the changes we are told to expect come into reality.

If TV wants reality shows... just put those of us who had surgery on.  Talk about a full range of emotions...  drama, trauma, and everything in between.        I think our hormones are going through adolescents again...  5 years worth rolled up into a few months.

You will begin to see changes you had not realize would take place and those are the good ones.   Just remember to take care of yourself...  because you are now one of us..  a loser

Sandy,

Emotions seem to go all over the place. Not just in the first 5 five days, but (for me) forever. So many changes, it can be overwhelming.

Sure you can complain about the hubby - we will listen, relate, chuckle, and understand.

Take your naps without guilt. Naps are gooood.

Kisses

Sandy, congratulations on your surgery and welcome back home to OFF!  I know it's difficult to rest when your body wants to be in overdrive, but we need time to heal after surgery, so try to take it easy - at least in between surges.  My DH treated me like an invalid after surgery.  He thought I couldn't do a thing and tried tackling everything himself (did a darn good job).  His good intentions were appreciated BUT...
Like you, I love to cook.  As a result, we often have what George calls "Food Overload" at our house.  I call our son who lives close by to come and get it, bring some to our elderly neighbors, or freeze for future emergency meals.
Take care, get some rest,
Debbie

I sure can relate to those emotions.  I'm only 2 months out (TODAY!) and I start bawling at commercials.  I have trouble sleeping too.  The doc said it's hormones.

Anyway, it sounds like you're doing great.  Try not to over-do it though, it will catch up with you.  Congratulations!  Hugs!!!
