FOUR YEARS....TIME FLIES...
Aloha you cute little menehune you! (tiny "being" in Hawaii)
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your four year journey that has given you that amazing list of "have dones!" You are such a HUGE part of this little OH family that I can't imagine your not being here. You not only inspire, but you tell it like it is, you bring laughter and cynicism where it is so right on, and wisdom that I don't think you even realize that you are giving. All you need is a magic wand and we can declare you the "Fairy godmother of the OFF!" Ha!!
Now, I have a rather intimate question to ask you about plastic surgery and I'm going to do that privately. Oh, hell, I'll ask it here AND privately just in case someone else might benefit from your answer. After PS did you need a riser on the toilet? How did you manage getting stopped up from pain meds and then how was the first BM after surgery? Ok, Ok, I know.......WAY TMI for some, but these are the things I'm dwelling with my surgery just a little over a week away. Sigh. Such a big mouth I have!! We ARE sisters, right? Sisters talk about these things!!
Any wisdom is welcome, sister 'o mine!

Well, Ms. Maui Karen.....
No question is too personal on here is it? That's why I've got all of the men blocked. If I knew they were reading, I'd probably not post at all, so I blocked'em....and what I don't see doesn't bother me...:)
No, I didn't have a riser on the toilet. You won't need one either. Get Myralax. It's a crystal that you just put in anything you drink and it will just keep you like the Energizer Bunny. I didn't have a BM for five days after surgery but about day 4 I was starting to worry so I started the Myralax. I don't do it everyday now but about 3 times a week.
If you take your pain meds (ask your doctor) 1/2 at a time... mine were 1 every four hours... I took 1/2 every two.
You'll have drains. They aren't hard to clean out. Keep hand sanitizer handy. Get a pair of pantyhose to put around your neck and pin your drains to them while you take your shower so you'll have both hands free.
For awhile, I'd call a neighbor to just 'be there' while you took care of the important stuff. Candy showed me how to get in bed, one leg at a time and then lay down sideways to get completely on the bed. I had incisions all the way around so I think you will do better laying on your back than I did.
Personally, I think you are worrying for nothing....I already did that for you and came out on the other side with relatively no pain.... so I know you can, too.
You'll just need to remember that you HAD SURGERY so take advantage of that wonderful lanai and the awesome view, a cup of coffee or tea and a book and enjoy the sunshine. I had to have my surgery to get some time off.... silly me...
Major Lackanookie,
Janet

OK.....well, now we're talking!! I had my notebook handy and wrote down Myralax, hand sanitizer and panti hose....none of which I have. You have soothed my fears, little one, and I now am fear free....well, not really, but I think if you could have an "all the way around", then I should be able to do a simple tummy tuck without being such a baby.
And, YES...this will be a great time to have an excuse to just be at home with a good book and some good grinds......and watch my belly heal.
Thanks for the input....much appreciated.

Oh, and Kotex Nightime Maxi Pads are great for padding the incisions so they don't rub. Wear your big girl panties and stick them on the inside... then your binder will only rub against your panties and not your body/skin/incision. I just quit wearing the pads but if I'm wearing something a little tight, I'll definitely stick one in.
