Good Sunday morning to ya!!! - What's new?
By the time some of you read this, I, hopefully, will be sleeping. Going hope at about 7AM to take a quick 3 hour nap. Then I have to roast a turkey for our church dinner tonight. So, I will probably be watching the insides of my eyelids instead of the football games.
I started a thread about what were you doing 45 years ago, the day Kennedy was assassinated. That is one of the few defining moments in our lifetime where everyone (just about) knows where they were when they heard the news. The only other thing I can put on the same level is the Challenger explosion and 9/11. Challenger, I do not remember the date. But when someone asks where I was when it happened, I know.
Sorry to have a somber note in there.
Tell us about your plans for today.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Good morning, George and all of my OFF friends.
It is another COLD one here! But no snow. I am still doing the 'doggie dance' while my son and his family are in WV hunting.
I have all my Thanksgiving shopping done and my schedule made out for dinner prep. Sorry, I am quite anal and I have everything listed in the order they need to be done. Beginning with everything that needs to be done on Wednesday like getting the turkey in the brine. Then I make copies of all the recipes I will be using (brine, dressing, desserts, breads, etc.), I put them all in a folder. Then I don't have to go flipping through recipes, I don't get the recipe book all grungy, and the list makes sure I have everything done and on the table on time. Nothing like sitting down to eat and remembering the breads haven't been sliced, or you forgot to get out the butter!
I'm still working on my crochet. I have a bunch of left over yarn. One skein of this, half a skein of that. I am making hats and scarves. Not sure what I'll do with them. Probably take them to the Salvation Army or some such. One year I used all my left over fabric and made lap robes for a local nursing home. Remember those blankets we used to make that folded up into a pillow? Well, I made smaller ones to use as lap robes for folks in wheelchairs. It was my Mommy's idea. She visits her nursing home everyday and noticed that the folks in there get cold, even when everyone else is too hot. Of course, I sent enough for her to give out down there, too.
That's about it. I have a 'Numbers' on TiVo to watch while I keep my hands busy.
Everyone enjoy what is left of their weekend!
i knit caps for "caps for a cure"- it's a group who gives hats to chemo patients-adults children men women newborns etc--it's a yahoo group founded by a local gal who has cancer....just a thought!
I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Thursday, I had to have them come out and fix my heat pump. I had emergency heat, thank goodness. It was really cold Thurs. too. The wind was really blowing. I get so cold now that I don't have all that extra weight to keep me warm. Anywho, It cost me $377 to get it fixed. That's almost my whole check for this week.Well at least I'm warm.
I guess that's about it. I've got to go catch up on all the threads I've missed.
Have a great day everyone. Teresa M.

Happy Sunday to all. Busy day as usual here in central AR. It's been beautiful and sunny, but very cold. Out of the blue they're predicting rain and thunderstorms today. Bummer. Wanted to get the winterizer onto the lawn today since it has to be there 24 hrs before rain/watering to kill the weeds. I might just be out there on Turkey Day.....Speaking of that, I guess it will be a busier day than expected. Gary has been hired to take Holiday family photos for a client, one on Thanksgiving, the other on Christmas (doing that one on the 21st, though), so it's $200 towards the Xmas account. Finally, I can start doing some shopping and maybe, just maybe I'll get into the spirit?
THE LABELS ARE IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We're spending most of the day working on that, then Gary can take the photos for etsy.com and we'll be up and running by next weekend, God willing.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day today. Hugs and love to all
Susan
Last day of housecleaning...have to fini**** today. My son will be home from grad school on Tuesday and my daughter, SIL, grandkids will be in this area on Wed. My daughter and co. left VA on Saturday, stayed overnite in Illinois and on to Rochester MN where SIL's parents live. They'll visit there for few days then to LaCrosse. I work my long day 15hrs tomorrow then 13hr day on Tuesday then OFF TILL NEXT MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't had that many days off since Fall of '07.
I already asked my son to bring his camera to take my "before" pics so I can finally post.
I'm going to cook my turkey on Wed after I return from my "long day" of pre-op appts. I want to get the mess out of the way before children arrive later on Thurs. They don't care about turkey presentation, just the taste. I have a nephew that is a chef in Chicago and he taught me to cook the turkey upside down with about an inch of water in the pan so the breast stays juicy. Haven't had a dried out turkey in years. No basting required. Turkey is really easy when you think about it, just clean it, put it in the pan, cover it, put in oven and forget it.
My son will want me to make wild rice cassarole...his favorite.
I'm going to use non-fat cr mushroom soup this time to cut some of the fat.
Gotta go clean...clock is ticking!
