My meeting with the "big guy"
I think it went pretty well. I was told by my executive editor that I was valued and they wanted me to stay if I wanted to stay (which I do, because I have to work). We had a good chat. I feel pretty optimistic about the process. I hope the next part of the process, when they put together the copy desk next year, goes as well. I told my editor I couldn't take the buyout and why, and that I hoped to stay with the paper in the new configuration, that I wanted to work, I enjoyed my work and my coworkers (which I do).
So we will see what 2009 brings. The first month, I won't be here anyway. I'll be home, doing PT and popping pain pills.
