Joey cat

He is NOT diabetic, he has a bladder & kidney infection. For the next 3 weeks he gets antibiotics and should be as good as ever.

We are to hold off on his Depo shot as long as possible. It is an immuno-suppressant which makes him susceptable to infections. Dr. Shakespeare is very happy that he has stayed healthy for so many years despite the shots.

But man oh man, that cat was angry with me. They had to put him in a contraption to get the urine directly from his bladder. When she let him loose, the brat came over and beat on me with his paws. He looked like a furocious boxer. The Vet got a big leg rub and a purr.

Then he hopped in the carrier, with fire in his eyes, as if to say "take me home NOW!!"

My head is aching from the stress and anticipation of bad news. I think it is time for a nap.

i'm sorry you got beat up on and have stress ...but i am laughing and smiling that joey will be alright! my mom and i took samantha cat to the vets before i could drive- and she took off using my mom's arm for a pin cushion causing a gusher of blood - the vets office couldn't catch the cat so she got locked in an exam room and i drove (with no license or sense!) mom to the ER for a tetanus shot !!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Margo,

I am convinced that cats are a product of the DEVIL.

Joey has never learned to keep his paws to himself. He doesn't claw, he HITS. No warning, no instigation, just whaps us, then sits for a cuddle.

You drove with NO license - good for you.

I am laughing at Joey the boxer cat ... sorry he used you as his sparring partner. Hopefully it wasn't a knockout. And then he blames you for the pain, when it was the vet who did it ... and the vet gets purring and leg rubs.

I'm sorry Joey has bladder/kidney infections, but that's not as bad as diabetes (since I've been through that).

Love the name of your vet, Dr. Shakespeare ... to be or not to be, that is the question!

Eileen,

To add insult to injury, he has been giving Tom constant loving since he walked in the door. I get nothing but icey glares.

The ingrate! Wait until he wants his 85 cents per can of baby food, spoon fed by ME. Let Tom or Dr. Shakespeare feed him.

You know I will still baby the stinker. Can't you see the "SUCKER" tattoo on my forehead?

Whoever said cats don't have personalities has never owned a cat!   Glad Joey will be ok, but sorry about the boxing match.....guess Annette lost that one, huh?

Yeah, we can't stay mad at them too long.  I cleaned house this afternoon and then went in the bedroom for a little nap.   Fluffy was sound asleep on her "blankie", as soon as I laid down, there she was right up by my face sharing my blanket and put her paw on my cheek like she was petting me.....how cute!   You just gotta love them.

Aloha Annette....Oh, how I love your kitty stories!! Having two kits myself, I know how different each personality can be. Your Joey sounds like a character. I'm glad that his condition is treatable, but I feel sorry for you getting the "stick eye" from him after being such a good mama.

I laughed at the boxing. My two often have "boxing matches." They stand on their hind legs and go at it until one races off to pout. My little girl kit, Poki, loves to get under the sheet on my bed and have me tickle her while she races around thinking I can't see her. If I stop before she's ready to stop, she comes out and sits on my chest and pops me on the chee****il I continue to play until SHE is ready to stop!! Talk about having us trained!! Ha!

Thanks for the morning belly laugh!

Aloha nui loa,

Hi Annette, 'black-cat woman!'  Hopefully you're feeling better now!  Very glad to know Tom's not diabetic!  Poor Tom was so stressed at the vet, and I'm feeling badly for YOU.  In sharp contrast, I'm owned by a fifteen-yr old Mahogany tabby who's the sweetest, gentlest 'therapy!'  I'm certain she thinks she's two yrs old, so active when not dozing.  Purrfect company during these four weeks so far being home-bound!  Starting to go stir crazy lately--get headaches with long phone conversations, and only so much reading, computer surfing, and intelligent TV to watch!  Have been sleeping a lot, unsure if post-op healing like home care nurses state, though I think it has a lot to do with boredom!  Appetite returned this week, so thankfully only have WLS 'legal' food in the fridge and cupboard.    This is almost like house arrest!   Ha!  Take care of you hon!  Hugs, Patti
