Yep that's where I usually hang out.  Just wondering if I was the only DSer in the world over 50!  Most seem to be in their mid 30's.

Hi!  I'm 51 and just had my DS.  It seems like everyone I meet or talk to about it is in their  20's or 30's.  I just wondered about issues specific to us over 50.  Like does it spur on menopause sooner or does it take longer to recover completely because of being older.  Or do wrinkles suddenly spring to life as the weight drops.  While overweight, I haven't had any wrinkles but who knows now.

Hi Cindy,

I had my DS at 51. Before DS, I felt like I was 91, now I feel like I'm 31.

Wag more, bark less.

That is so awesome!!  I'm with you on the feeling 91.  I can't wait to feel 31.  This is very encouraging to me!

Surgery on January 7, 2008 - 54 years old at the time. 55 now.

Need info?

I lost over 100 lbs in 1974.  The weight loss feels JUST as great this time; in relationship to mobility, energy, etc.  BIG difference:  I am never hungry like I was in 1974 while trying to maintain the loss.

It is a known fact, that losing weight over 40 means your skin will NOT have the same elasticity as it did when you were younger.  AGE diminishes the skins elastic quality.  Everyday I see a new wrinkle in my skin OR set of wrinkles whether I lose weight or not accordingly to the scale.  My skin is just downsizing period. Heck I even have BUTT wrinkles (TMI right?).

I went through menopause 4 years ago, so I cannot address it's onset in relationship to the DS.  I can tell you this, I still have hot flashes from time to time - I do NOT take hormones due the data related to breast cancer.  I take my hot flashes as they come and let everyone around me just deal with it while I huff and puff.  Having lost all this weight, the flashes do not seem to be as HOT, but then again, they could be decreasing their intensity the farther I progress through menopause.  Hard to accurately guage this, since I have no comparision to where the flashes would be without DS surgery at this point in time.  Hope that isn't confusing.

No regrets with the DS, not one except I would like to have known about it YEARS and Years ago, and had the procedure SOONER.  Nevertheless, I will DIE thin and enjoy the remainder of my years.

Thanks to Kathy's story on the Discovery Channel, I have the DS now.  Live is Good in the Kingdom!

Thanks for the info!
Oh, and I'm cool with butt wrinkles, its the eyes and face I dread.  But yeah, I guess its better to be thin and wrinkled than fat and wrinkled.
