Dental appointment....trouble swallowing...

I've got calcium tori something under my tongue, but starting yesterday my teeth hurt and then I noticed that the soft tissue and was swelling under my tongue and that the tori on the right was already at teeth height. 

I got some orajel... and took some Lortab.

I'm just wondering if I have an infection?  Cancer of the mouth?  Allergic reaction to something?

I don't know which doctor to call... my PCP, my PS, the dentist?

Hi Janet, that's horrible you're under additional pain.  Cheers for getting the drains removed!  At four weeks tomorrow (thigh lift), actually got most of the stitches out yesterday, although several similar to fishing lines remain.  Will post a separate update--this is all about YOU, and I wish I could just click my heels and blink my eyes for things to be back to 'normal' for you!  Hopes, positive thoughts, and prayers for to to get resolution to this soon as possible.  All the best and gentle hugs, Patti

I am not sure what you mean by calcium tori... but if you are having some swelling under your tongue - my first question is do you have trouble swallowing?  or shortness of breath??  If so, immediately see the doc - your PCP would be my first thought, but not knowing what you mean by tori has me confused.
Sounds like an infection to me.. I'd like to know what you find out.

Well Miss Janet, nurse Debbie G doesn't know what a tori is either!  Is that a Texan term? 
Now that being said, if it came on suddenly my suspicion would be infection or allergy. Generally (my mom used to get angioedema from a drug reaction) it would be like half the tongue or the whole tongue or part of the lips and tongue.  sometimes her throat also swelled up and she had to give herself an epinepherine injection.  My suggestion would be to call your PCP.  How many weeks out from surgery are you?  usually if there is an injury to the tongue you would see it sooner than this, but that doesn't mean there can't be something going on there.  Call the doc, get in and find out......

Well, I've called the dentist (brother-in-law).  You never get to talk to him, just his wife.  He's unavailable to me.  Anyway, I doubt he'll want to see me...he's going to call in a prescription.  I'm going to go ahead and make an appointment with my PCP... let's just cover all the bases, shall we?

Not sure this is it but, after I had my plastic surgery they put me on anitbotics and about 7-8 days out I developed sores in my mouth and then a rash. I called my surgeon and they told me to get off the antibotics because that was a side effect. You need to contact someone soon.

Well, I'm three weeks out.  I'm not sure what has caused this.  Yesterday I felt like I had a toothache so poked and prodded a little... but I've got these HUGE calcium deposits under my tongue but the one on the right side has gotten a lot bigger.  Dentist doesn't seem to be too concerned except to say it 'could' inhibit my saliva gland and then we'd have to do oral surgery.... I'm excited.

So far, the dentist wants to put me on antibiotics.  I've got a call into my PCP... waiting to find out when I can drive over.  Had my shower and washed as far as possible....and finally was able to reach possible so possible is clean too.
