Laya, I wish you the best. I will be praying for you and your new life ahead. I bet your thrilled, can't wait to be with you. Before you know it, you will be back posting away, so all of us new people can learn.

Gail,

I've learned so much from all of you good people.  I would have never been anywhere near as prepared as I am now.

I'll post when I get back.

Thanks Jacki.  I will keep you posted.  Not sure how long I will be in the hospital since they are operating late in the day Friday.  I'll let you all know when I'm home.

Good Luck Laya.....You seem all set to go.  Do you have to travel a distance to the hospital?  You will be coming home about the time I am going in.

Hugs Now and Hugs Later (more gently)

Hi Sandy.

My surgery will be in San Francisco.  I live about 50 miles east of there.  It's funny but I work in San Francisco Mon - Fri., I'm used to the commute.  But when your not working and you have to come in to the doctor or go home from the hospital, it seems far.

Thanks for the hugs.

Laya,

I know how excited you must be - tomorrow is your new birthday !

Do you have any meds that you usually take at home?  And what about post-op meds for nausea or pain?  Many docs write that prescription in the office and then you won't have to worry about getting  it filled when you get home and don't feel like it.

Do you have an angel who is going to let us know how you are doing after surgery??  If not, what about family who will post for you?

Good luck - sounds like everyone has mentioned the things that I thought of, too.  I took a book, but never felt like reading - my eyes were too heavy !

I have my regular maintenance medications at home that they will instruct me what to do before I leave the hospital.  No prescriptions were offered pre-op but I promise not to leave without them calling them into my pharmacy.  I don't have an official angel but know 2 people that have had RNY that will be keeping in touch with me so I will see if they can post for me.  Otherwise, I hope to be home soon and will post myself.

I've found that I can't concentrate on reading right after any surgery that I've had in the past.  Sleep, walking, sipping and TV should do it for me.

Thanks Shelia.

Wooo hoo! I bet you thought this day would never get here!

Best of luck to you!   Peace and a safe journey to you.   Can't wait to hear how your experience was.   I am hoping to have surgery in February and I, like you, have learned much from all the wonderful people here.

Keeping you in prayers.

Linda

My thoughts and prayers are with you.  You will be fine.  I never brought my night gown or slippers.  They say there is a lot of germs in the hospital so I asked for new socks every day.  I found two hopital gowns the best.  Good luck!
