I'm all packed and ready for my surgery tomorrow!  I feel very positive but just want to get it over with and move on to the next chapter.

Still won't know until surgery if I'll end up with RNY or VSG, but I know my surgeon will make the right decision based on my current health conditions, etc.

Packing List
Light robe
Nightgown
Slippers
Toiletries
Bra without an underwire
Chapstick
Comfortable clothes for the ride home

Did I forget anything?  Do you think I need to bring a heating pad?

I just want to say that I have learned so much from all you wonderful people.  I feel as prepared as I will ever be.   Thanks.

Good luck tomorrow Laya on your surgery.   Praying all will go smoothly and your recovery will be easy.   I only wore the gown from the hospital.....it was easier with all the tubing etc.   Also they usually give you those sox with the rubber stripes on the bottom to walk in.....they also keep your feet warmer.

Moving over on the loser's bench to make room for you!

Pat,

I'll bring my nightgown but will probably end up using only the robe.  Like you said, there are all those tubes.

Thanks for your good wishes.

Hi Laya, I advise, DO NOT use a heating pad.  The wound area is desensitized and you may not feel if it is getting too hot.  If you have a long ride home, you may want your driver to have a pillow in the car that you can hug in case you go over bumpy roads.  Prayers to your surgical staff and love to you on your newest adventure.  Diane

Good point about the heating pad Diane.  I will bring a pillow.  It's about a 50 mile ride home.

Thanks for your support.  Your are an inspiration.

Good luck on your surgery, Laya.

You'll be fine.  We'll all scoot over so you'll have room on the loser's bench.

Best wishes, Laya.  I was really glad to have my own pillow for sleeping in the hospital and for the ride home.  Also was glad for a magazine to thumb through.  Waiting for the surgery was worse that the surgery itself.
Hugs, Linda

Hi Linda.

I never thought of actually having my own pillow in the hospital.  Even though I've brough my own pillow to hotels before, it never crossed my mind.

Thanks.
