Pre-op versus today's blood test rseults

My surgeon recently ordered follow-up blood tests.  I'm thrilled with the results:
                                       Pre-Op               Today
Total cholesterol         187                     146
HDL (good)                   62                       59
LDL (bad)                      73                       69
Triglycerides                 259                     46  (Yeah!)
Blood sugar                  157                     101
AIC                                  7.4                       5.7

I had been on Lipitor and fish oil for my cholesterol and triglycerides for years before my band surgery.  They did help my cholesterol, but did nothing for my triglycerides.  High triglycerides increase your risk of stroke (I'm already at risk because my mother has had several strokes) and coronary disease.  What helped my triglycerides was WEIGHT LOSS and I have my beloved band to thank for that!

Wowsa !  Jean - what fantastic numbers !  Look at the triglycerides and A1C!
I am hoping to post such great labs some day, too....

I seem to have missed your posts recently - how is your Mother?  Hope things are settling down now that she is in the new place and change of meds.
And what about your job situation?

Think of you often...

Shelia,

Mom had a couple of rough weeks, reacting to medication and the move to the nursing home, but she's doing better now.

As for the job situation, I'll be interviewing soon to become a substitute teacher - I don't need a teaching certificate to do it, and since I have a B.A. degree, I'll earn $65/day doing it - probably better than being a greeter at Wal-Mart.

Thanks for asking.
