In case ya didn't hear, I'm a Grandpa again.  LOL.

Not much going on elsewise.  Survivor tonight, Eddie's Home Run Contest has been changed to Friday.  So I will get to go see that.  Then 2 games Saturday, one at 8AM and one at Noon.  About 45 minutes away too.  8AM hitting the ball... some kids are gonna have some sore hands.

Have a good day everyone.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Hi George and my OFF family:

It's nearly 2 a.m. ... my check's not in the bank yet. It's been a hell of a long day, what with the early morning meeting Wednesday about the consolidation and the buyouts, etc. I'm still a little wired but then again, I'm tired. Lots of talking at work tonight about the meeting, so it was hard to get work done. Plus I was tired and it was raining all day, so my knee was really hurting. And now I don't know when I'm going to have my knee surgery. So that's up in the air.

Got my lab report back from GI doc on the EGD ... it said "indefinite dysplasia" and to repeat EGD in one year. That's the first time I've had that, so I'm not sure what that means. I'll have to call Dr. Farr tomorrow and ask. Usually it's everything's fine and see ya in two years.

Well, I guess I'll go to bed. Had plans to do things with my check but can't do that until I get it. Guess it'll have to wait.

Good morning OFF family!!

Well, made it to the doctor's appointment. Thank goodness for great friends.  Mary left a business lunch to come get me and drive me to Dallas.

I'm minus two drains. The other two were just too 'busy' so I've got them another week.  I was reminded to EAT by my doctor.  He does a lot of bariatric work, I think.  Told him eating wasn't a problem.  NOT eating was a problem.

Mike, Mary, and I went to Rockfish for dinner.  I suggested we share something so we ended up with a Shrimp Martini, a FRIED dinner, and a FRIED appetizer plate. That's what I get for going with two people who don't have a clue...although my son should have a clue.  I'm still belching grease.

Yesterday was a good day so I expect today will be one as well.  I'll be meeting Mary at Mac's Steakhouse at 1 for lunch. They have the best soup. That would be mine.  The rest of the day will be just taking it easy.  I'm trying to rest as much as possible until I have all drains out.... AND then Dr. told me I could go to work a week early.   I think NOT.  In fact, I'm asking for 1/2 days for the whole month of December...

People at work will go for it... they don't want me to pu**** I may just take a pillow and blanket in the car so I can go to the parking garage and nap...:)

I think I'd LOVE retirement.  Never felt that way before...but I do now.

My size 14's are still too tight.   I've got padding and binders and still swollen....so I would imagine if there is a size adjustment it will be no farther than a 12.  I'll be wearing a binder for a long time, I think.

Prayers and good wishes to Lora....she's headed for a new journey...and I can't wait to see the results..... and of course, Maui Karen......  man, when it rains, it pours around here..... speaking of which, does anyone know where that slogan came from??

I may add more later.  Right now, it's 1:36 a.m. and I'm going back to the couch.

Annette,

Yep, Morton Salt.

My friend, Mary, married Morton whose mother's maiden name was Morton (she was a sibling).... the Morton's also had a food distributorship.... Morton's Potato Chips, mayonnaise, etc.

I graduated with a great grandson.... Butch Morton.

Just happened to think about the slogan when I was typing.

Hey Janet, glad to hear you got part of the drains out....
good for you.

UMMMM could you possibly use a larger font.....us old
folks find that "tiny" stuff hard to read.....

That saying "When it rains, it pours" I believe came from Morton Salt.....remember the little girl on the blue box with the umbrella???   They were tauting the fact that when it was damp, their salt would still pour out nicely.

Rest and relax and keep healing, girlfriend.

Hugs,
Pat R.

I'm an information junkie and was interested when you asked the origin of "when it rains, it pours".  Although Morton Salt used it, its origin is English, and goes back further than the past century.  Here's what I found.     Margaret

"One stroke of good (or ill) fortune is often followed by many other instances of luck (or misfortune) when you least expect them. The proverb dates back to the eighteenth century. In 1726, English physician John Arbuthnot (1667-1735), published a book entitled 'It Cannot Rain But It Pours.' Jonathan Swift (1667-1745) and Alexander Pope (1688-1744) collaborated on an
essay entitled 'It Cannot Rain But It Pours.' The saying has been use ever since." From "Random House Dictionary of Popular Proverbs and Sayings" by Gregory Y. Titelman (Random House, New York, 1996). The saying, in a slightly different form, is the slogan for Morton Salt: ".The company developed a salt that would be free-running even in damp weather. In 1911, a little girl with an umbrella and her now-famous slogan, 'When It Rains It Pours,' were created to promote this new product.

Good Morning all....
UGH!  I am so tired I can't sleep.  I got home yesterday evening from work and at 5:15 or so got busy,  Took apart my bed - took off mattress and springs, took the frame apart, moved the bed out of the spare bedroom, put the bed frame in there, got it back together, in essence moved 2 rooms of furniture, got the floor swept, went back into my bedroom, rolled up the area rug, hauled it out, moved everything around and then called Gary to see if he would help me put the new bed frame (new to me that is) together. It is actually a water bed frame that my brother and his wife had and chose to get rid of,  It is in really nice shape, oak and very pretty, not very old either, but they got a new bedroom set, gave me the frame, gave my son the mattress and end table and Tina's neice got the dresser.  So anyway, Gary left about 9 and I was so tired by then and was going to take a hot bath, but was too hot!  so I just went into the spare bedroom (only bed available) and read for a bit then slapped on machine but couldn't get to sleep, ached all over...Finally at 2am I had slept some but had to go to the bathroom, got back to bed and then got up to take that bath!  Fell asleep in tub for a bit and am going to try to go back to bed here in just a few minutes.  What a day!  I knew I was doing too much moving and shoving, dresser here, chest of drawers here, curio cabinet there, bed here, mattress here, box springs there....X2!  Like I said UGH!  Thank God Gary is such a good guy and a friend to come over and help.  So in 2 hours I have to get up for work, I think a venti chai latte is in order this morning, I'll need the caffeine!  I still have more to do on the bed frame before I can sleep in my room again, plus more furnitrue to move tonight!  Hopefully sleep won't be an issue by then!
Hope you all have a good day!

Good Morning all & big congratulations to you George on the new grandchild.  My mantra is "If I knew grandchildren would be such a blessing I would have had them sooner"  I have 2 granddaughters and  lots of "adopted grands" . We've gone from being Ma & Pa to all our daughters friends to Nana & Papa to all their kids too.  It is such fun as you know.

Earl is doing car pool this am so I get to stay home and catch up on some things here.  Seems to be what I do most of the time now. But things are getting better and closer to a routine her at home.  Yesterday we actually were able to go out for lunch and not rush through it.  Earl had to get cortisone injections in both wrists yesterday at the base of each thumb. The doc said lots of arthritis in there and if this doesn't help will need some surgery. Earl had carpal tunnel surgery in 1999 on both wrists( 6 months apart) but due to the Rheumatoid Arthritis neither surgery worked.  He has lots of pain  at the wrists and numbness in his fingers.  If the steroid injections don;t work the doc said they may try to redo the carpal tunnel in case their is scar tissue impinging the nerves and do surgery to remove the thumb bones and replace them with synthetic material.  Either way here we go again.  When Earl has surgery he has to be off his RA meds and that really sets the rest of his body back. He also is a very slow healer due to the RA meds.

I'm doing much better with my food.  Yesterday I made Karen H's Turkey/Cream Cheese Roll Up's to keep in the freezer at my daughters, so when I am there I can have a healthy snack or turn it into lunch if I need to.

I hope you all have a terrific day.
Hugs, Paulette
