Subbing for Linda: What are we eating and what's eating us?
I didn't see Linda's usual post this morning - sure hope she's OK.
I saw my mom this morning. She was much more lucid than she had been on Sunday, but now that she is more self-aware, she is miserable. She told me she's very depressed and kept bursting into tears. She held out her arms for a hug TWICE, which is unheard of for her (she has never been an affectionate person). But at least she remembered my name.
B: peanut butter chocolate protein shake w/ banana in it
S: protein bar
L: chicken, asparagus
S: smoked turkey & muenster cheese rollup
D: salmon, garlic lima bean spread
S: red velvet cupcake (reduced sugar and fat - a Hungry Girl recipe)

Thanks for updating us on "Mom". You sound like such a good daughter and it is very evident that you love her very much.
I, too visited my Mom every day in the nursing home for 4 years. She had been stricken with a stroke that took away her speech but we could communicate just with gestures and I could tell things just by her eyes. I loved her very much also and still miss her after 6 years. I feel blessed that we had so many good years together though as she was 88 years old when she passed. She was my best friend.
Love & Hugs to you Jean.

JoAnn, hungry girl is a web site for low calorie and fat food. They send me an e-mail everyday with hints, recipes and answers to questions. They do a lot with Weigh****chers too. It is a very good site. Just go to HungryGirl.com and you should get something. If you don't just let me know your e-mail address and I will send you a copy.
JoAnn,
Here's a link to the recipe: http://www.hungry-girl.com/chew/chewdetails.php?isid=1313
They're delicious!

Jean, thanks for posting. I do hope that all is well with Linda. I worry about her when things like this happen.
Today has been very busy. I went visiting the shut ins for the church and then went and checked in with my niece Autumn. She was in a car accident yesterday afternoon and totaled her new car. She is alright but I am concerned about her knees. The knee caps are sticking out a lot and I am concerned that she might have broke them. They x-rayed one and said that she is alright. I told her that is the pain continues she better go and get them both done again.
I am so glad that your mom is doing better. I found with my mom that she needed for love and affection. With Alzheimer's they are very scared because they know that something is wrong but they have no idea what it is. I can only imagine that fear. I know that my mom often had the deer in the headlights look on her face. You could see the fear in her eyes. Just keep reinforcing the love and tell her that everything is alright.
Food today is alright, nothing good or bad. I am just not hungry today for some reason.
B: cottage cheese and pomegranates and a cheese stick
L: slim fast low carb shake
D: who knows
I am not even sure if I will eat dinner. It is 15 to eight and seems to late for me right now. I might have something for a snack. Protein would be good.
Have a good night.
