It's Wednesday. What's New????
Hi Candy and my OFF family:
Up early today to go into work for the big meeting ... read my separate post on that. Interesting and not too surprising, except for the scope of the consolidation (we all thought it was just going to be three newspapers, not the whole chain). I haven't had anything to eat all morning, just caffeine and water ... I finally got a scoop of peanut butter (boy, do I miss my AchievOnes!) I may have to order from bariatriceating.com and swallow the exorbitant shipping fees if they don't have them in at my health food (still don't have them, I just checked.) Can't stand the stuff I bought ... anybody want some Dymatize Elite Whey Cafe Mocha protein powder? I've only used one scope and now I'm stuck with it.
I hope I can get a nap in today. Otherwise it's going to be a long night. I can't remember what anyone else said already.
Oh, Vicky, hope you don't have to face a layoff ... boy, do I understand what you're going through.
Well, I'm getting a little loopy here ... lack of sleep will do that to you.
Oh, Pat, hope everything is OK with your esophagus. Dr. Farr took samples of mine, too ... did your doc tell you if your Barrett's was short-segment or long-segment ... I guess there's a difference. Did you know that only 10 percent will turn cancerous? These are things that Dr. Farr shares will be before and after the procedure ... funny I can remember them through the drugs.
I need either more caffeine or a nap ... maybe both. Oh well. I guess I should get off the computer. Have a good day.

Hey Eileen:
Gosh I need protein powder, but don't think I'd like the "mocha" stuff any better than you did!!
Yes, Dr. Vakharia told me there is a small chance the Barrett's could become cancerous......less than 10% as you say. I don't know about the short segment vs long segment.....I did ask him if it would ever get better and he said it could heal up but would never go away completely. I'm worried about the fact that there was still a little food in my pouch after 12 hrs.....ever heard of that?? He said the pouch was a little over a cup in size.....I take that to mean 8 oz. or so.
Hope you keep your job, Eileen.....I'm sure they recognize good workers when they have them and will take that into consideration.
Dr. V. did talk to me after the procedure, but darned if I can remember any of it.....he also talked to my son but I have no idea what he said to him.....I haven't talked to him today. The nurse also showed me pics but they were not registering either.....darn drugs!
Take care and will be praying for your job situation.
Hugs,
Pat

Done! Your Ticker:
That's one of the many things I love about Dr. Farr ... he gives me the pictures ... he showed me where my pouch was! So cool! The first time he gave me the photos, I brought them into work ... the guys all thought they were so cool, the women were grossed out. I think this stuff is neat! Who would think that we could put a little tube with a minature camera down our throat and take pictures inside our bodies? That's the stuff of science fiction as far as I'm concerned.
I've been meaning to look up "short segment Barrett's" online since last week, but have been preoccupied.
This protein powder actually has coffee in it ... you think it would taste good but it has such a funny taste.

Good Morning Candy and my OFF Family,
Yesterday was a rough day. Took Mom to Oncologist. Her PCP found a spot on her right lung that looks suspicious. She has been a smoker for about 64 years. Has tried to quit repeatedly but with no success. I will be really busy trying to get a diagnosis.
I went for my 2nd fill yesterday and I am officially the hardest patient he has to find the port! It was a bit uncomfortable to say the least. I hope as I lose some of the fat on my belly it will get easier. The PA decided that she would go ahead and give me another full cc since I did not feel restriction for very only after the last fill and I am so hard to find. So I now have 5 cc's.
I am in the office today and it is slow. I need to make some calls so I will check in with you all later.

Aloha little menehune Candy, and all of my OFF sibs!
Soon I'm off to work....probably a long day because I'm helping get ready for a fund raising "gala" next weekend at a fancy schmancy hotel. With the economy in the pits like it is, fund raising becomes very primary function for an agency like Imua Family Services. The state does contribute, but I'm guessing that is going to dry up soon , too.
I wish you could see the awesome scene outside this morning. I was up when it was still pitch black dark outside, and in the distance I could see the orange glow of sugar cane fields being set on fire.....beautiful at night, but a lot of people complain about the old Hawaiian ways of burning cane before harvesting. Then, when the sun rises through the smoke, the whole scene takes on a glow that is unlike clear morning sunrises. I love them all!! I would LOVE to wake up to a rainy morning, though.....it has been MONTHS since it rained here. Water is becoming a precious thing......and we are warned to use it sparingly.
Ah, so many of you going through so much right now. I wish I could comment on so many things...but time just doesn't permit. I love that so many newcomers have found us....it will make your journey so much easier, more fun, and successful (IMHO). I don't know what I would have done without my OFF family during my whole journey. My "soft place to fall" when I got down or my place to come for a chuckle if I needed one.......it's a "good thing" as Martha would say! Ha!
Enough of my drivel.......off into the world to mingle with the townsfolk.
Love you all!
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen
