8:30 a.m. tomorrow ... could be the big meeting about consolidation about the editorial staffs of the newspapers. Don't know the details, but my boss told me there was going to be a meeting. He said it wasn't mandatory, but it was important. He said he could update me on it. So I asked how important it was for me to attend, and he said, "If I were you, I'd attend." So I guess I'm getting up early. Won't get much sleep tonight, that's for sure.

I hope this is not bad news for you.  If it was about job losses I would think the meeting would be mandatory.  I am thinking good thoughts for you.

When they consolidated the ad production staffs, they offered buyouts to everyone on all three papers. Fortunately, enough people took the buyouts that no one lost jobs ... they promise us all jobs, but don't say where those jobs will be (could be at another paper far, far away from here, and then I'd be stuck trying to sell a condo in a bad housing market in Michigan). We shall see.

I say I'm not going to get much sleep because I'm still at work, have to wait for a late story and probably won't get home til after midnight, then have to get up at 7 to come downtown again for an early meeting. So not much sleep tonight. Plus I'll be worried, plus in pain ... this is what I usually do at night ... I have to knock myself out as it is. If I'm lucky, I'll get 5 hours. maybe.

i'm thinking it could be a feather in your cap if you attend???

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

It is 8:23 am here in MA .... and I'm thinking about you and your meeting.  Our big announcement for lay-offs is today also.  My stomach is in knots, as I am sure yours is as well.

Good luck with the news.
