Hey, Anybody see the mystery box?  I think it is lost in a vortex.  I like that word. vortex, vortex, vortex.  Try saying that 3 times fast.

The Mystery box is a box with 10 items in it that starts uh, somewhere.  Then people on this board sign up to participate in the the box's travels.  The only "rule" of the box is that however many items you take out, is what you have to replace them with.  they are not expensive things, just stuff that you have around the house.  It's fun, and you could sign up for the next one.  I hope I explained it ok, it's just a fun thing that we do. (It's almost as much fun as Christmans!)

Mystery Box #2 went from me to George, then to Linda Barnett, then it was to come to you, then back to Darlene.

I know George got it.

I received the mystery box just befor I left for my cruise to the Western Carribean.  I posted that I would send it on its way when I returned.  I wanted to pick up something on the trip to send along to you and Darlene.  I did just that and it is on its way to you.  You should get it soon.  Hope you enjoy your souvenir from Grand Cayman along with the other goodies in the box.

It seems we take cruises for most of our vacations.  We used to live in Florida an hour and 30 minutes from either Fort Lauderdale or Miami.  Cruises leave from there more often than any other port.  We have fewer choices leaving from Galveston but Carnival leaves from here and Royal Carribean is supposed to be coming back soon.  It is hard to beat the value of a cruise.  I can usually find one for less than $800.00 for a 7 day cruise.  It would cost that for a hotel on any other trip.  Then there is food, entertainment, activites, etc.  The best feature of course is only having to unpack once.  Then there is eating at nice restaurants and going to the theater by just walking down the hall.  If you don't mind an inside room and can travel with as little as 2-3 weeks notice you can get a cruise for $200.00 -300.00.  If you can drive to the port you can cruise as cheaply as an overnight special evening.  Hard to beat.

Hi Linda,
Did you get bad weather at Grand Cayman? I was there the week of October 27th- November 1st and we had 5 days of bad weather and after we left Hurricane Paloma hit. We saw some cruise ships unload on the east side of the island. They couldn't unload on the docks because of the high seas and wind, but the shopping dollars had them arrange the unload and they bussed thousands to the shopping area. That was interesting to see. Maybe you were in the crowd!

My trip was Oct 26-Nov 2.  I was in Grand Cayman on Thursday the 30th.  All the tours were canceled due to weather.  We did not schedule a tour and went ashore to walk around town.  It was overcast but not nasty.  We enjoyed the day and didn't know things were canceled until we saw a sign later in the day onboard.   We docked and left on time with no weather related  problems.   How funny that you were on the island at the same time.
