for the ladies
last year i had a total hysterectomy after several years of bad pap smears, and after all kinds of lesser procedures were attempted
two weeks ago i went for my second six month pap smear since the surgery and it came back with suspicious cells again, and now the doctor wants to do another colpo in the office.
i am totally bummed out, i thought that the hysterectomy would solve these problems.
anyone been there and had this problem?? im really looking for more information, so far even google hasnt given me too many answers for trouble with paps after hysterectomy.
any info would be appreciated.
thanks all, jacki

Jacki, have you ever posted or read info on www.hystersisters.com? They have so much info there on hysterectomies and everything pre and post. It was so helpful to me a few years ago when I had a total hyst. and for at least a year afterwards.
Wishing you the best and hoping everything turns out great for you.

Hi Bonnie
Good advice. I too went onto hystersisters.com after my own hysterectomy a few years ago. They were wondferful and helped me thru it all.
I do know if your cervix is intact, you can still have 'bad' pap smears. If they remove the cervix, there is nothing to check (tho it feels the same inside, it's not).
