I keep having reoccuring UTI's, kidney infections and bladder infections since I had surgery. Is that common to anyone else? I was told it happens frequently after surgery is that true. If so what can I do to try to avoid the problem. if anything? Sue

PS I added new pictures to my profile. Let me know if you like them

Cranberry juice. Oceanspray has Sugar Free Cranberry and Crangrape in powder form like Crystal Lite. It taste really good too. I drink it because I like it and to help with the UTI's. I used to drink cranberry juice before surgery for the same reason. That's what my PCP told me to drink years ago. Teresa M.
I got the SF Oceanspray powder at Wal-Mart.

I will try to find the SF Oceanspray powdered. Never have seen it, but there is no Wal-Mart here in my small town. I have to drive about 15 miles to the closest one. Maybe I can find it on-line some place. That's what I do when I can't find a product elsewhere and I don't have time to look. Thanks for the info, that has to be better than drinking the stuff from the health food store that tastes like vinegar.

I am one of those peole who have UTI's constantly. I take an antibiotic 3xweek to preven but somethimes it doesn't help. I also use premarin cream because it can be from dryness. I haven't even had my surgery yet oh boy what do I have to look forward to. I hope you find relief.

I'll have to talk to my doctor next time I see her about getting on the antibiotic. I have kidney stones that have worsened since surgery and I think that is part of the problem. Good luck with your surgery. I have had a variety of problems, but it's just a matter of adjusting to the life changes even the less fun ones. I am so relieved to have gotten down so much in my weight I'm willing to deal with just about anything. I figured I volunteered for this surgery so I can't whine, moan or complain with the results. You NEVER know just how the surgery will affect you until you have it. You hope for the best but deal with what ever comes. I honestly thing the problems I have had have helped me lose more weight and because I have to be so careful of what I eat or I will have it come back up it keeps me from doing things I shouldn't. This surgery will change your life drastically, but it was worth it to me to lose the weight. I don't really hate giving up much of anything. I miss stuff occasionally, but other than that I have nothing to regret! Well, that isn't true exactly. I regret not having done it yers ago. LOL  Hang in there you will get a surgery date and then the real changes begin from day one. It isn't fun sometimes, but it IS worth it! Take that from someone who was as frightened as they come! Hugs, Sue

I will make sure I'm drinking enough water. I may have been getting lax here lately. Now that it isn't so hot it's eaiser to not be as vigilant. Thanks I love the pictures of me and my dog.

I have kidney stones and UTI's come with the territory!  Keeping your kidneys flushed is imperative.  I also try to stay away from most all juices, except cranberry!  Using a sterile wipe also helps.

I'm glad I asked! I am getting really good advise! I hadn't thought about the sterile wipes. That makes good sense. Seems like being intimate with the hubby causes flair ups too. Man, this getting older sucks, all the harmoen changes and the Other stuff it's 0ne thing after another, LOL Sue

Sue, does everyone get kidney stones after surgery? I have never had that and certainly don't want it. lol I have enough stuff going on already. Oh well, I guess there is always a price. I hope you are feeling better. Hugs Gail
