I can't believe it the Hospital called me today to say they have tried to get some doggone approval number from the insurance because they have this policy to collect all funds owed to them by patient 14 Business days before surgery or it is canceled. (it is currantly 12 business days away) I was approved by medicare 7/29/08 I'm on disability, I signed up for a medicare advantage plan which was approved 7/30/08 and retro-ed back to 7/1/08 for start of coverage was told everything would be approved just like medicare because it is still medicare. Now the med advantage say they have no record for a pre approval it will take 14days to get it cleared up. I flipping can't believe this The Hospital said no way to wait needs to be done by policy. If this doesn't happen my surgeon is already booked out to march 2009. OMG!! I have been on this awful 1 meal a day and 2 protein drinks diet and will be starting liquids only on Monday. Needless to say I just can't handle this. Sorry to vent just needed to cry and type I figure you all would understand where I'm coming from.

I am so sorry that this is happening. I will keep you in prayers that this whole thing is taken care of so that the surgery happens as planned.
I know that there is so many hoops that we must jump through and sometimes it seems like they will be having us jump through them until the time the anesthesia takes effect. Then you go to sleep thinking they might wake you up for some more hoop jumping.

Hi RaeAnn, I totally sympathize with you. I had trouble with BC/BS communication with my clinic. I was approved on 10/01 but it took a month for the clinic to get the info from them eventho I had verbal approval via phone on 10/10 and BC/BS said they called my clinic days earlier. I finally have a date tho...12/10. I had to make a ton of phone calls, writing down names and numbers of everyone I spoke with. Keep trying, you'll get there.
