Unemployment at the highest is has been in 14 years....

I can't help but second guess the decision to have this knee surgery... but I couldn't hardly walk at all... so I guess I had no choice.... terrible timing Mr. Knee... thanks a lot

I have over 30 resumes out there floating around, and only a cursory response from one company requesting more information... I only need one job, so praying hard for this....

Maybe my resume sucks?

Something has got to give... I think the promises of a new president are too far off, so I just gotta put all my faith in God and hope His plan for me shows itself soon....

I needed to vent.... thanks

Marc, it is alright to vent. It is also alright to be nervous about the future. So there is no need to apologize to family. We understand we are right there with you through this time in life that isn't so good.

I understand what you are saying about a job. I have been looking too, although not as much as you have, and there just isn't anything out there right now. That is the key words~right now. God will send the right one to you and just keep remembering that. If there is something that you can't do just act as if. So act as if you KNOW the job is there and it is going to be coming to you any time now. Keep positive and that is what you will get~positive.

You can vent to us any time that you want to. You know that just makes us love you more. But there is one thing that I should mention to you~that is I wouldn't hit your head on the wall anymore since that could make you brain damaged and then when the right job comes along you might not fit the criteria that they have for the job. Or if you must keep hitting your head on the wall may I advise you to tie a pillow on your head. Or if you have a really big staple gun you could do that.

Sending love and big old hugs to you, brother of mine.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Boy, do I understand the feeling....     I waited until the eleventh hour to do my job search.  I knew what I wanted and there were a few positions available ..... then the economy went to ..... in a hand basket.

So here I sit... knowing that for once in my life procrastination was not my friend.       I keep thinking of the story of the grasshopper and the ant...  LOL  and here comes winter.   Know any friendly ants?

Will keep you in my prayers..    Millie

Hi Marc,
Sorry to hear about your job woes. You hang in there and keep positive! It will come along.
I know it worries you to death though but you are right to put it in God's hands!

Sorry to hear about your job woes, Marc. I worry about these things and I have a job ... my brother works for AIG and may be out of a job if they sell his unit (and that was the profitable one, the life insurance unit ... but no one trusts AIG for anything anymore regardless of whether the life insurance unit was making money).

I understand about the knee surgery too ... boy, do I understand about it. I hope your surgery is going better than my first one did, because I'm still in pain and having it redone.

The job market is so tough. I read the business wire every night on my job, and every story is about companies cutting jobs ... Mattel cutting 1,000 jobs, Fidelity cutting 1,500 jobs, etc., etc., etc. It's downright depressing. GM running out of money. Michigan was in a recession before the rest of the country, so I really do hear ya.

Like I said, I have a job, and I'm worried because they're going to consolidate here, and I just hope I don't get consolidated right out of a job. I'll keep you in my prayers ... something's out there, just don't know where. Have you had someone look at your resume?

My knee recovery is going great really.... I was at the doctor on Wednesday and he said "you are at least 2 months ahead of all my other patients" ..... hehe.... I love beating everyone

.... doncha hate us competitive buttheads

I am pretty sure my resume sucks.... and this has really been on my mind for a couple weeks now... I have been reading all i can find on the internet about resume format etc and I am stil not real sure if mine is a total turn off to prosepective employers or what,....

I am considering grouping my last 3 jobs into one entry... maybe this wont look as bad.... I quit Frito Lay because my knee just couldn''t take the long hours and hard work anymore.... and took the job with the linen company because it was easier and shorter hours, and when the knee got worse took a sales job with another linen company because it would not require any lifting and little walking... but that was also a mistake and I simply ground to a halt and went ahead and had the surgery at that point...

..... so anyhoo, it makes the resume look like kaka....

Is there a state employment agency that you could go to that has someone that could help you with your resume? Or take a look at a book ... go to Amazon and see if there is a resume book that has good advice. I know my resume is old but it's pretty basic and has gotten me jobs over the years. I try to keep it to one page, then leave references if they want them, I'll put them on another page (because they only ask for references after they are serious about you).

Marc,

It sounds like you waited much longer than you should have to get Mr. Knee repaired.

Vent away, we all need to do that or explode.

I hope you don't mind but I'm sending you a great big HUG.

Hi, Marc,

I will be praying that a job will come open for you soon!

I'm sorry to hear you are worried, but also glad to read your vent, because it makes you more human.  Does that make sense?
