I'm not too old!

Good Evening everyone,

I finally talked to the insurance woman today at my surgeon's office. I'd got a letter from her about my 6 month diet, and the Iowa Medicaid requirements. It said the person needed to be older than 25 but younger than 55.

I paniced cause I'm 55. But she told me not to even worry about that, they appeal that and win all the time. That the most important part is the 6 month documentation. Then she said she hadn't gotten any since June. So, instead of my diet starting in July like I thought, they will use it back to June when I initially talked with my doctor about it.

So, I'm almsost done with my diet! And I'm so excited. I just wanted to share...

Take care,
Nancy

This is really good news.  I was hoping to hear something like this.  I just couldn't imagine the age limit of 55...  sounds more like a speed limit....  lol  from the dark ages....

Done with the diet and on to the lifestyle change....  Great news....   Millie

Nancy, congratulations on the wonderful news that you have. It won't be long and your journey is going to begin and it is a fantastic journey I might add.

It won't be long now and the time is going to fly by. Just wait and see. You will be finding your seat on the bench all ready for you. The seat on the loser's bench is mighty comfy too. And the company is great.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Great news Nancy! That seems like a dumb rule anyway. Good for you for sticking with the diet for 6 months. That takes alot of determination and will power! Maybe we'll get to have our surgery around the same time!
I love this forum!!!!

Congrats Nancy! I'm waiting on a referral for my Nut to get started on my diet. Tomorrow I go for my seminar.

Do you have medicaid only? I have medicaid but here in Texas. The folks at the center told me they can get medicaid to approve.

Again congrats on your diet being done.... keep us informed of your journey~

Good news.!

I was told that there is a cutoff age for gastric bypass.  It was 65.  Sometimes I think they tell you that because they can.

You are well on your way.  Time will go fast.   I just had my gastric by-pass on Monday.  It seems like I waited for ever.  It really wasnt a long wait I was just anxious.  Sit back enjoy the ride.
This is definately a life style change.  Your time will go by before you know it.

Congratulations!   By the way, I will be 56 in December.   You are not alone.

It is not medicare who is doing it, it is your supplemental insurance.
