Well today was not that bad.

First day home.

I had a pretty good day.  I had cream of chicken soup for dinner and sugar free jello..  (soup strained of course)  my book said 1 cup.   I tought that seemed like alot but I did eat it.  the good news is I got in 60 grams of protein today.
As far as liquids, if I count the protein soup , protein broth, sugar free pops, and jello.  I got 40 oz.

Should I really be having a cup of broth or soup at one time?
I dont want to do anything wrong.

JoAnn

Congrats on your surgery, the main thing is to follow YOUR surgeons post-op guidelines. All of the surgeons have different ones...

When I had my surgery we had to measure our foods, we had 2 oz every meal for a long time....but that was way back in the dark ages....

hi and congrats on your surgery JoAnn

it seems to me you are doing great for day one at home

i was not able to even look at soup or jello for quite awhile, but everyone is different.

as to the amount  you have to follow your doctors guidelines.  i know i was told 1/4 of a cup in the beginning, but each doctor is so different.

just follow your docs protocol and you should be fine

be safe and well, jacki

JoAnn, you are doing great. I would follow what your doctor says. So many doctors are different. For each 10 you ask you would probably get 9 different ways.

It sounds like you are doing just fantastic and the fluid part will increase bit by bit.

Keep on keeping on and know that you are starting on your journey of a lifetime.

Hi JoAnn....

As long as you follow your doctors orders you are doing everything right.

Keep working on those liquids.....very important not to dehydrate!

You are lucky you could have cream soup so soon. My surgeon required us to only have total liquids....Glucose Control High Protein Boos****er, jello, clear broth and popscicles for 4 weeks after surgery plus the 2 weeks before.

Keep us posted how it is going!!

Hugs....connie d

Congrats JoAnn,
Each surgeon is different.  I had RNY on the 5th Nov and am on as much clear liquid as I can sip and 2oz protein shake, 3 times a day.  Tomorrow I get 4oz shake, 3 times a day but still the clear liquids.
I was also told the shake should be done in sips only taking about 20 minutes to drink.
So follow your dr's instructions or your NUTs.

Thanks everyone for your input.
I am able to go to phase 4  on Thursday.  That will be the pureed stage.  I have to do pureed for 3 weeks.

Any suggestions on what is good to the taste buds. ?   Pureed sounds so......... blah.
