Friday - What's New (it's almost Friday anyway!)
Ah, Vicky, I read about Fidelity cutting jobs ... hope you are not among them, but I understand about the stress. Actually, my 401K is with Fidelity but can't put anything in it now because of the Chap. 13 bankruptcy and won't be able to for the next two years. So there's probably not much in there considering how the market is.
So nice of you to "adopt" your coworker. I have a "surrogate" mom too ... my friend Margie in South Dakota, who "adopted" me when we worked together in Montana at the newspaper in Anaconda and then we worked nearby in South Dakota. She and her husband always invited me over for holidays and such. Her husband was my editor in Anaconda, Mont., ... he is now dead (and she is discovering some not so nice things about him, like affairs he had while she was recovering from ovarian cancer ... he was looking to replace her thinking she was going to die). Margie is just the sweetest woman. I'm sure your coworker thinks of you the same way I think of Margie.

Good morning, Debbie and all my other OFF family. I am just sitting and reading and catching up on what is going on with all my sisters and brothers. This is the time that I love. It is quiet and I just enjoy quiet time with my "other" family.
I am planning on doing some grocery shopping today. Nothing much I just want to get some cottage cheese and such. Other than that my freezer is pretty well packed for a while. It is such a small freezer and I would love to have one but there just isn't any room in here for it. If I had one I would love to do the dinner freezing stuff. I do have some things in there now but not as much as I would like. It is so easy to just go to the freezer and take out a cooked dinner. Wow! How I would love to do that.
Misty and Bill are still sleeping. Misty did get up when I did and got her dose of "morning love" while I was in the bathroom. I created a monster in that one. Now it isn't just in the morning it is almost every time I go to the bathroom. But I guess her habits could be a lot worse. ha ha
I just heard on the television that unemployment is 6.5%. That is the highest it has been since 1994. I just hope and pray that this country of ours will be heading in the right direction and that God continues to bless us and our country. I do know that our new incoming president is going to need a lot of prayers also.
I guess I had better get going. I just had a call from church and there is upset going on with the organists AGAIN! I am so tired of this crap going on. One organist is saying one thing and the other another. I just want them to come to me when they decide something since I am head of them. Jeri asked Pastor if he knew anything and he said no and to call me to find out. I told her that I am just as much in the dark as they are. I informed Jeri that I am not going through another year like this and their little organist games. I will not do it. She told me that she doesn't blame me at all.
I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are going up for everyone. Special ones are going up for those in need of them. Have a wonderful and blessed day and remember to smile pretty!

Aloha and good morning beautiful Debbie and all of my OFF family,
Well, here it is 6:30 a.m. and not quite sunrise yet. It's going to be a glorious day...and fall/winter is my favorite time of the year on Maui. We got through the rough months (Sept./Oct) which can be VERY HOT without even one day of uncomfortable weather. I have covered my A/C unit out on the lanai for the winter.....but I didn't turn it on at all during the summer! I guess I've become an official lizard.......I'm used to being warm all the time and live in the right place for that.
Eileen, I'm sorry about the asthma episode. I've never gone through that, but my son had it when he was a child and it was scary. Thankfully he outgrew it by the time he was a teen.
Joyce.....I got a twinge when you talked about the coldness of your son, and his hurting remark to you about weight loss. I have a strange relationship with my oldest son, too. He rarely writes, never calls, and is a TOTAL cave dweller in his house in Oregon. He has a studio in which he does his computer magic, and is very happy living with his "significent other" (she, by the way is an angel and puts up with his eccentricities and loves him anyway) and his little pug, Tinker. I've come to just accept him as he is, and love him, and try not to take his neglect personally. It is NOT always easy, but since I'm bit of a cave dweller myself, I understand.......... kinda sorta.
Things are happening to my friends that are disturbing. My cleaning angel broke her foot last week and had surgery to put in a pin yesterday. I am taking over the feeding of a kitty in my building for her for the next week. Then one of my best friends had a sore removed from her face yesterday and the doc said he thought it would just heal up fine. Well, he called and said it was much more serious than that and referred her to an oncologist.....VERY scary indeed!! She and I have a date to go to a C & K concert (wonderful Hawaiian singers) next Friday. I sure hope we can go because she LOVES Henry Kapono, one of the singers.......like a teenage groupie!! Ha!
Oooh, here comes the sun! It's orange out there because there is a lot of smoke from a burning cane field.....another beautiful version of sunrise on Maui. That signals the beginning of my day....so here I go. Chores, then errands, and maybe a drive up to the north shore to watch windsurfers who are having a contest today.
I hope everyone has a day with something wonderful happening that they can share with us tomorrow.
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen

Came home from Legion last night with a huge bolt of ticking. I am going to make walker bags for the Vets hospital. Wish I could quit work, turn off the phone and just stay home and play. Wishful thinking, Yesterday was sweet grandsons 7th B-day. He will be with me tomorrow so I need to think up some fun stuff for that. Well I better run. My prayer is for health and happiness for my OFF Family.. Byeeeeeeeeeee
