Zippee--dee-doo-da------what?! (funny!)

Hi friends, thank you so much for the cards, calls, PM messages, during this horrendous plastic surgery experience!  have been at the nursing home (only a mile from my apartment) since Friday evening.  Am hoping, hoping, hoping to be released back home this weekend.  Have written several books worth of humorous notes from this experience, first the initial six nights at the hospital, then the three-night return home, then return three nights to hospital, and this unique experience recovering with physical and occupational therapy at the nursing home since Friday evening.  Please know this is all in good humor, and not a pity party (smile and chuckle).  Am going flippin' nuts from boredom with 'basic' cable TV and no computer access-- unless I get a ride to my place from my dear neighbor.  (Cannot wait to post "I'm home!"------soon!

Had follow-up appt with plastic surgeon yesterday.  He removed the second JP (external)  drainage tube and 'bulb'!  Also, removed the internal plastic piece and that suture opening is wider than should be.  Actually, I have a Grand Canyon opening on the groin line, and two other openings along the right thigh.  I'm confused why they're open, and if the drain gaping hole doesn't close back on its own, he'll surgically close (it)/them is OR, though unsure when.  It hurts so bad, and it's worse, because I can see into the holes.  These are included with the reasons I did not go into nursing school----aaaaach!  (I'm laughing albeit nervously!)

Came home to do two small loads of laundry earlier, and that was just exhausting.  Don't have the energy to do anything more than catch a couple Emails, and get a quick update posted.  Haven't even read the boards (OFF, plastics, MN) and am way outta touch.  If I feel up to an hour visit, will take a cab over to the Depot Saturday morning.  Will have to check to ensure it's the one here by my home/nursing home.  Gotta get things closed up here and get back to the land of 'golden living' by seven.  Has been extremely interesting, having had worked professioanlly at three HMOs from '93 - '03, then working part-time almost five years at a premier assisted-living facility, and now, being a cognizant patient at a nursing home for post-surgical rehabilitation.  Am feeling like 'Norma Rae', with pics and documentation for too many things there which gotta be against the law if exposed....if not, will turn it into a novel, called The Residence (residents).  May be hilarious, or may be a 'whistle blower'......stay tuned.  Too funny and too alarming.  For example, most of the  'foreign-born' nurses have no idea how to do an ace wrap (I learned in junior high health class), so the foot part stays intact instead of unwrapping, causing safety hazard.  Yesterday, found one of the little metal fasteners in the crotch of my underwear), and more.....will save that humor for the book(s!)  Sorry so long----am finally using my brain and will save it for doing  crosswords from the Trib when I get back over to the land of 'golden living'.

Wishing the best to each of you!  Hugs, Patti

Patti,

You are someone after my own heart, life, if we can'f find a reason for humor would be just dreadful!

God bless you for keeping yours amidst the horrors of what it is you have had to endure lately!  I'll be looking for a signed copy of the "Residence" as soon as it's off the presses.

Hugs and prayers for your recovery process, Laureen
