I let my 12 and 16 year old children vote with me today. They went right with me to the voting machine and watched me do the touch screen.
I told them that whatever the outcome is history will be made. Either the first African-American President or the first female Vice-President.
I wanted them to remember this election.

I got done early at work because none of my pages were election-related, got home just in time to see the words "president-elect" and the crowd cheering in Grant Park. Wow. We have come such a long way. I remember Martin Luther King being shot ... and now a black man is going to be our president. In our lifetime, blacks went from being denied basic rights to vote, to being elected to the top office in our land. There is justice.

And I must say John McCain's speech was very nice and sincere, much more the tone I expected out of him than what I heard during the campaign. Good for him.

I agree with you.I respect him for giving such a sincere concession speech. I'm sure it was hard to do.
He should have spoken like that during his campaign. Sometime the politicians need to be themselves and not listen to his campaign managers all the time.

this is surely a wonderful time for our country.  we were given a choice that would have been historic, whichever way it went.

i wish  for our new president elect  the strength and guidance he will need to lead our great country. we have so many issues to work on to restore the confidence of the american people in our government.

we live in the greatest country in the world, but our country is hurting right now.  let us hope that his vision for change will enable him to bring a new peace and prosperity to our great nation.

be safe and well everyone, jacki

What a brave man!

I just keep him, his wife and children in my prayers.  This is a terribly dangerous world we live in.

I pray that our country will begin to heal, we (the US) have a long recovery ahead of us.

This is very late in being sent you, but just wanted to say it is indeed historical and we feel hopeful. DH and I have decided to do just one thing to give back to our wonderful country, so we will be volunteering to help kids read in our grade school.

By the way you look beautiful and have come so far!!! Congratulations. I went from 215 to 121, size 22 to 4 - it's been a trip.

Blessings and peace,

Rudie
