Happy Voting Day to All!
I've gained 4 pounds back & am determined to lose them fast, so....... here's the meal plan for Tuesday:
B - Cottage Cheese, L-Protein Shake & small salad, D - chicken & broccolli, snack - mozerella cheese. Hopefully, by eliminating the grazing & the excess carbs I can get back on track.

OK Americans,I need to say this,I have gone from crying,to praying, and sadness. I found out yesterday that my brother and I are on opposites of the voting pole. I have worked 42 years of my life,he has worked ONE.
I had to pray, and yes,I talked to dead relatives.
Today,I have on my head scarf,it is red, white and blue.
I wanted to say, whom so ever wins,I am an American, first, last, and fore most. The president will need our love and support.
There,I feel better,God bless us all.

Linda,
I voted last week.
I'm struggling. Yesterday I got a call from the nurse at Mom's nursing home. Mom has lost 2 lbs in 2 weeks because she isn't eating well. They give her protein shakes as supplements, but she has to be reminded to swallow once she's got the stuff in her mouth. She's had 2 vomiting episodes when trying to swallow her meds. She's much weaker and harder to transfer. Mom's doctor is willing to admit her to the hospital for GI tests if that's what I want. I decided to keep her where she is. I think the move to the nursing home (and starting the Exelon) was just too much for her and she's ready to let go of life. Every time she's been in the hospital in the past year has been confusing and traumatic for her. Every IV, shot, X-ray, whatever caused her pain and dismay. I can't imagine her being able to swallow barium if she can't swallow a protein shake. Why put her through all that if it isn't going to improve her quality of life? The nurse assured me that they will do everything possible to keep Mom comfortable. They can puree her food and crush her meds, and difficult transfers are not a problem for them. This morning I'm going to our local employment agency to sign up for temp work and after that I will go visit Mom. Every time I think I'm done crying, I start crying again.
B: peanut butter chocolate protein shake
S: iced skinny latte
L: sesame catfish, spinach
S: yogurt
D: tofu parmesan, brocamole
S: SF pudding

Sorry about your mom Jean...Does she have a favorite flavor pudding? or applesauce? She might try swallowing more if she really likes the stuff. You may be able to get the crushed meds in there also. Her throat may be very dry and difficult to swallow. That's very common in elderly people..even me sometimes.
Having to remind her to swallow sounds like she's not in control of her activities of daily living. A feeding tube can be very uncomfortable as well. Sorry you are going thru all this. Making her comfortable is becoming a very large task for you.
I'll keep you in my prayers..

Jean ...... my heart is breaking for you. This is such a difficult time for you and your mother. My prayers continue for you both.
I remember the last year of my mothers life when she was on a feeding tube. She just couldn't swallow anymore, she choked all the time. I hated seeing her on that and regret it everyday. She decided she wanted it so we went ahead and did it.
Know that we are all here for you.
Hugs......connie d

Linda...
I am so glad you are so cheerful this morning... I love the little dancing flower.
I'm grumpy. I've had two days of no explanation weight gains... eating the same calories, exercising 6-7 days a week... gained 3 pounds since Saturday...it's just wrong and not fair and it has made me very irritated.
So far I had a protein bar.
I'll work on my attitude today.
