Good morning Linda,

No clue exactly what is on the menu. Thank YOU for doing this thread each day. Although my brain is not always working so early, you give me a nudge to stop and THINK about the day ahead.

Kisses

Linda,

When I went to pick up Mom yesterday, she didn't recognize me.  I tried to bring her to our house for lunch, but she was so weak and uncoordinated, we couldn't get her out of the car.  It was like trying to maneuver a completely helpless, 130-lb infant.  Every time my husband tried to lift her, she cried out as if in pain (but I think she was just scared).  So we folded her back into the car (she couldn't even sit up straight) and I took her back to the nursing home, where a CNA heaved her out of the car and into a wheelchair.  She's only been off the Exelon for a few days so I know it's too soon for her to improve, but she was so much worse than when I saw her on Thursday, I was really baffled.  I will check on her again in a few days and if she's still that bad, I will call her doctor myself.  If I didn't know better, I'd think the nursing home had been feeding her horse tranquilizers.  Maybe I'm being paranoid.  I can look at her meds record any time I want, and I pay for her meds, so it would be hard for them to hide this from me, and why would they tranquilize a sweet, tractable person like Mom?

B: peanut butter chocolate protein shake w/ banana
S: iced skinny latte
L: chicken, lentils
S: yogurt
D: sesame catfish, spinach
S: SF pudding

Jean,
I looked up Elexon and found a site with a good amount of information. http://www.alz.org/alzheimers_disease_standard_prescriptions .asp

You have every right to ask for the list of your Mom's meds, type, dose and frequency of administration.

Each med has typical side effects, but each person may react differently.

When we gave Mom Aricept, it was as if we gave her a massive dose of SPEED. Her doctor said impossible - we went without sleep for days until I finally discontinued the drug.

I know this is pure HELL for all of you.

Many prayers
Annette

Annette,

Thanks for the link to the alzheimer's site.  Lots of info there.

Mom's doctor said we might try her on Aricept later (after the Exelon wears off), but at this point, I don't want to assault Mom's system with any more chemicals than absolutely necessary.

Jean,I am sorry your mom was out of it. Could it be withdrawal?? I know you are on top of it.
I hope she will be back to her usual self, the best she can be.

Howdy,  I need to think about food today too.  We have our monthly Real Love (a book by Greg Baer about how to love unconditionally, check it out) group meeting this evening.  These eight women are accomplished, interesting, loving and irreplaceable in my world.  There will be something to eat there but I'll take some food just in case.

B weight control oatmeal
S yogurt
L tomato/red pepper soup
    cheese/ham rollup
S banana
D cooked shrimp with a little ****tail sauce

Have a wonder filled week and don't forget to vote.

Hi CV,I love the idea of your book/love club. I have made a decision to be more sociable as I tend to isolate.
Meeting and peeking out to join Jan is a big step for me.
I have also commited to spending Christmas with a huge gathering a people. There is a lady bus driver who says the gathering at her daughters is about 150 people,I am excited. I hope to make some new friends!
Good looking out, taking your emergency food with you.
Have a good one!
