OT: Flu Shot

I had my flu and pneumonia shot Monday.  By Friday I was sick, sick, sick.  Could not stay out of bathroom.  Could not keep anything on my stomach, not even water.  Was able to get a bit down today.  Ache all over.  Never have been sick from shots before but this one seems to have kicked my butt.  Trying to drink all I can but it is hard.  Will catch up with you all later.

I had my flu shot last week and was told since it was not a live virus it would not make me sick.  I had no reaction to it except a little bit of a sore arm.  Maybe you coincidentally got a virus of some kind or maybe you were allergic to something in the immunization.  Hope you're feeling better.

A few years ago I got sick after a flu shot, but haven't since then.  The Dr. said he thought I already had a virus.  I still need to get my flu shot this year.

Please be careful not to get dehydrated!

Got mine at work last week, can't even tell I had it....I've never been sick from them....sorry your having problems...

Two of us in my house had the flu shot 2 weeks ago.  We get one every year.  This year it really kicked our butts.  We were both exhausted and achy.  No other symptoms.  Funny becaust this time our arms itched for the first hour after the initial shot.  The symptoms lessened and by day 3 were gone.

I've never had a reaction from the flu shots and I've taken them for many years.

I'm wondering if you might have a developed an allergy to eggs????  That's one thing they warn you about.

vera; i was going to say that i cannot get a flu shot due to my egg allergy but pat r beat me to the punch..i can eat eggs in moderation but too many and i get big ugly patches of welts and so two docs have told me no flu shots....

hoping you feel better soon--and really do be careful about dehydration--so easy for us  to become dehydrated!!!

Even when I was in the Coast Guard, and flu shots were MANDATORY I still avoided them.... it just didn't make sense to get sick to avoid possible getting sick later...

In the 14 years I was in they only got me once... pretty good record of being creative in ways to avoid these shots!

..... and the one time they cornered me and made me get the shot I was so sick for 3 days .... really sick, high fever, "D", vomiting.....

I know what you are going through.... it sux! .... hope you feel better, and just do your best to drink... this is where sipping tiny sips all day long really helps... even a large mouthful of water tends to come back up...

Vera....sorry you had such a bad reaction to your flu shot.

I got mine about a week ago. My arm was sore and I got alittle achy for a couple days but that was it.

Thanks for all your advise.  I have since found out that a stomach bug is going around down here.  A couple of folks that work with my SIL have been hospitalized with it.  I am much better today.   Able to eat and drink!  Still having some hot and cold flashes but over all much better! 

I get a flu shot because of my DH's heart condition.  They say he may not survive a severe bout of flu so it is the least I can do.
