Janet's Good!!!

Hi Y'All!

Janet came through surgery well.  In at about 7:30 am, out a little after 2.  Her son left the message on my home phone, but I was out all day, so I called him at about 6, and he said she was doing great and wanted to talk to me.

She was REALLY HAPPY!!!!  She said a push of the button every 6 minutes was doing the trick...  Mike said he and his brother were kidding that they had a new 12 pound baby brother, but they didn't plan on taking him home from the hospital!  Twelve pounds of skin!  She's just going to be the tiniest little thing!

She sounded wonderful (morphine will do that to a person), and told me to thank you all for all your prayers.  They worked!

I'll keep you all updated.  I'll be arriving in Dallas at about 6 Saturday evening.

I got her another thong.  Couldn't resist.  I hope it's not too big...

Hi Candy,

Thanks so much for the update on our little (we mean it now!) Janet. You're such a good friend to go help her out. Make sure you pick out a really cute thong. Maybe we should send one around the country and have it autographed!!

Give her my love when you talk to her.

Hey guys and gals.  This is Janet's son, Mike, checking in.

Janet's surgery took approximately 6 hours - 1 more than she told her kids, but 1 less than she told everyone else.  I guess she didn't want us to worry.

As Candy stated, they took 12 pounds of skin from her, and unbeknownst to us, the doctor evidently snuck in and had her sign a waiver so they could do LIPO as well.  So that got done and we were none the wiser.

She made it to the room around 4pm and was visited by a couple of her Starbucks friends, as well as Paul (sorry, I don't remember his last name), who took some pictures and got permission to upload them.  They'll probably show up on the TX board.

We left her alone at 6:30, as she really needed to rest and we felt that our presence was inhibiting that.  We got some hints that they would actually have her up and walking around this evening sometime, and they're giving her the bariatric meal as soon as they make sure it's not going to come back up.

She looks slightly like Ken Jennings answering Jeopardy questions with that pain pump in her hand.  "What is 'Damn, that feels good!', Alex?  I'll take potpourri for $1,000."

Anyway, she's doing fine and we're going to check on her again tomorrow morning and afternoon.  She should be home sometime Saturday, although we don't have a clue when, and it's unknown if she'll feel well enough to post herself.

But I thought some words from the bedside would help.  She said she was thinking of you all and thanking you for your well wishes and prayers.

So glad to hear that she is doing the training for Jeopardy!  Hope she wins as much as Mr. Jennings, but then again, she is a big winner with all that she has done already in her life!  Sending postive healing vibes out for the recovery ahead of her.

Hugs, Laureen

Glad to hear all is well ... yes, I love those push-buttom pain relievers ... wish I had one at my desk right now, then I could stop the little man who's sticking a knife into my knee.

Love the comment about the 12-pound baby brother. Sounds like Janet's humor, but then it's her sons ... guess the apples don't fall too far from the tree. Can't wait to see how little she is after this. It might even encourage me (although I doubt it, after my bad knee surgery experience).

I wish I could come and help, but I've got to work for a living, at least for the next year and a half.  I hate to tell you the maneuvering I had to do to get off just the few days I'll be in Dallas.  There WILL be a number of 16-hour days in my future.

Janet sounded wonderful when I talked to her.  She was thrilled about the 12 lbs gone.  I'm sure you'll come through with flying colors as well (black and blue at first, but you know what I mean...)

I'd be there if I could.  My thoughts will have to be there instead.
