Hi, Chevy!
I am 55 and had my lap band surgery Sept. 29th. Now a month later I am 20 pounds lighter, and off blood pressure medicine.
I took 2 weeks off from work, but the second week felt more like vacation as I was getting along very well.
My first after surgery appointment, the Dr. said I was a very quick healer.
I am on solid food now and having no problems. Eat what they say, when they say, that is very important and drink lots of water.

Hi Chevy and everyone in the over 50 forum. It is a pleasure to meet all of you.
Chevy, you asked a great question and one that I had as well. My RNY is scheduled for Jan 8th, 2008. It is great to hear that so many of you are doing so well post surgery and soon thereafter. It's also comforting to know that we need to expect a couple of hurdles along the way but that it is all part of the process and we're going to be just fine.
It sounds like most of the folks having RNY who work desk sort of jobs as I do, were back at work within 3-4 weeks.
Thanks for being such a welcoming group.
Enjoy the evening,
Barb

Welcome Becky,
I had WLS almost exactly 2 years ago, age 59. Recovery was a breese. I have had 3 hernia repairs since then and would rather have had 15 WLS instead, it was so much easier!!!!
After WLS I was up, walking the halls within 30 minutes and NOT on pain meds. The hernia repair this month was rough, I took DRUGS!!!!!!!!! Lots and lots of them. WLS recovery was no biggy at all. You will feel darned good.

Hi Becky,
You've gotten lots of good responses and so I just want to welcome you to the OFF Board, as you've no doubt found out by now, this will probably be a place of comfort and support by all the warm people who inhabit this forum. And post-WLS life is richer and fuller than anything I can describe.
So welcome, look forward to sharing in your journey!
Laureen
