Anyone ever diagnosed with carotid arteritis?

I just came back from my doctor's office with a new diagnosis of carotid arteritis. Having left temple pain. Yikes- and he wants a biopsy done to confirm the diagnosis. Anyone else ever have this?
But on a more cheerful note- I'm trying Brenda's crock pot chicken fajitas today. Threw everything in the crock pot this morning. It smells good!
I'm new to this board- so just a little about myself. I'm 52 years old, married and still have a 16 year old son at home and a 85 year old father in law with us too. Along with two dogs.
I'm a nurse ( in a nursing home.) I love to shop at resale shops and garage sales for fun, and lurk on the OH board now and then. I'm so happy that I had WLS, but still struggle everyday with things like "head hunger."
Thanks for listening!       Jenny R.

Welcome to OFF, Jenny. I hope that you post often so we can get to know you. We are a caring and sharing group and love to chat. So the best advice I can give you is when you have time (from the sounds of it you have a busy life going on) plop down in a comfy chair, put your feet up and get you a cup of whatever and just jump in and share.

I sure hope that you like the chicken fajitas as much as we do. I made them yesterday and they turned out a bit thinner than they ever did before. I figured out that I had 3 pieces of chicken (one was big, one medium and one small) and so that may be why. I hate getting the chicken in a package because sometimes it is so hard to see how big the chicken breasts are. We are having some of the leftovers today for lunch.

Again~welcome to OFF and we are so glad to have you with us.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Welcome Jenny,  this is a great forum..  as you know from lurking....  I have no idea what carotid arteritis is but I hope nothing serious..

We all struggle with our food... head hunger..  restless eating and whatever reason we use to over eat or eat the wrong foods.

This forum sure helps keep me in line with my eating plans....

Welcome out of the shadows of Lurkdom....

Jenny,

My mother had temporal arteritis.  I think we are talking the same thing.  Mother was having terrible headaches and vision problems.  No one could figure out what it was.  My doctor diagnosed it when she was visiting.  They did the biopsy and found it to be just that.  The only thing they did...and mind you, it's been YEARS, was steroids.

She continued for many years after that....she was in her mid-60's when they found it.

Thanks for the feedback!  And Janet you're right- it is the same thing as temporal arteritis. And I'm getting the same treatment that your Mother received. I think I was just lucky enough to be diagnosed early enough before any vision loss.
Never dull around here..................  Jenny

Welcome to the group Jenny!  This is (in my opinion) the best board on OH.  I hope everything works out for you with the temporal arteritis.  I never heard of it before.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
