I was wondering if anyone was gong to mention CKLW coming out of a small city called Windsor Ontario - but the radio station of millions of people in Canada and the US. CKLW played a lot of wonderful Motown music - Temptations, Martha Reeves and the Mandelas, Smokey Robinson, etc.
Tom Clay, Tom Shannon (and others) were made famous by this radio station, which I still listen to but it now has a different format - all talk - I must be old!!
Dick Purtan is still around, on a Detroit station. My desk mate at work always tells me one of the jokes Purtan makes online every day when my friend comes to work.

I remember listening to CKLW even when it was on AM!!! Before the FM radio days.
I knew Dick Purtan was still broadcasting when we moved out here to MA 2-1/2 yrs ago, I can't remember what station it was though. Afternoons, I think?
Remember his daughter, Joanne? I met her at a Women's Conference in Detroit once. Such a nice lady!!
