calcium question

My former dietitian put me on Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D - Viactiv. Yes, I know there are a bunch of studies about which is most effective, that's not why I am writing.

The NEW dietitian switched me to Calcium Citrate and upped the Vitamin D.

Since I began taking them (with food) I have been bloated and have trouble eating. I am feeling nauseous at the smell of food, and eating is getting difficult.

She is not in until Monday so I have to wait until then to call.

Does anybody have an idea if there is a correlation or is this a coincidence?

Thanks
Annette

a far off question comes to my mind--are you lactose intolerant????
i was NOT before wls--had a heck of a time directly afterwards and still get gassy and bloated with some lactose products...i am grabbing at straws only because i equate vit d and calcium with milk.....

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

I use the Upcal D and find it to be the best for WLS people. It is what it says it is......not sure if you have read in my profile the paper that Sandi in AZ did on Calcium and reading labels, but the Upcal D is true.....

Thanks Darlene,

I read it a long time ago. When I went back to re-read it, I can't find the article. Is it in your archives or deleted? I'll go back and search again.

Found it! I was having a computer glitch the first time. Interesting article, as are the others.

Labels can be deceiving, because it says so many mgs of calcium doesn't mean it really is......Upcal D is powder form, tasteless, I mix mine in a bit of water and drink it........

I will try that Darlene. These things are horse pills and I have NEVER had trouble getting pills down before.

Hiya babes. My NUT told me the one you are on now does not break down in our pouches well. I would do a water test, put one in a half glass of water and see how long it takes to disolve,I am willing to venture it takes a long time to disolve.
Love ya!

I had forgotten that trick. They actually began to break down immediately. But they are SOOOOO big, and hard to go down. Cutting them makes the edges sharp and ouchie. Chewing was gross.

We keep learning through out this journey, that's for sure.
