Good morning all!

Hi Linda,

I didn't have any leakage but hope things clear up for you very soon.
I am getting off of soft foods on Monday.  Yes, it is amazing how good cottage cheese, tuna smashed up with lf mayonaise etc taste when that is what you get.  Helps you have some appreciation for the little things, doesn't it?

I have a church workshop today from 10-noon in Charlottesville.  then at noon I have an OH support meeting at "Amigos".  This is my first one and I am looking forward to it.  I will have the refried beans.  Tonight is the monthly Community Dinner at church.  Luckily they are having potato soup, so I can eat some of that.  I will forego the bean salad, ham bisquits, and desserts.
It will be a busy Saturday but should be good.

Hope all of you have a great weekend!

Good morning all.  Getting ready to start my adventurous day.  Work my part time job for 4 hours, then take off early to go paintballing.  After that, Mary and I may go to a movie.  We may just stay home.  We will see what the day brings.

This is going to be a great paycheck for my part time job.  It appears it will be the first time in about a year that I will be working 12 days during the pay period.  Baseball season cuts down on my hours of course.  But last year I just tried to take an extra day off every week.  This year I am trying to get some money together for Christmas shopping.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

I'm headed out in a minute to have my 2-1/2 year post op labs done.  I was awake anyhow, and this may be the only day I can get them done.  My appt with my WLS doc is in 3 weeks, and some of the tests take forever to come back.

It's hard for me to believe that it's been 2-1/2 years!  My life has changed so much.  I get out more, have made some wonderful friends, and have started doing some of the traveling that I always wanted to do.  Now I can't wait another 18 months till I can retire and hopefully be able to indulge my travel bug.  I'm comfortable in most social situations, instead of sitting home because I was so self-conscious.  WLS was a good choice for me, even though I fought the idea for so long.

I need to go get my labs drawn so I can get a cup of coffee.  I'll have to settle for Tim Horton's, 'cause there's no Starbucks nearby.  Oh well, next week...

I may stop back later.  I think it's time to update my profile.

Everyone have a great weekend.

Morning all......
Didn't want to crawl out of the warm bed this morning...
at least it's warmer outside than it has been the past few days.....it's around 43 now at 8:30 a.m.    I've had my shower, rode the recumbent bike for 4.5 miles, read
my daily devotion and scripture, and finally having my first cup of coffee.  I have to wait an hour after taking my thyroid, then I take the prilosec, and finally after waiting 15-20 minutes I can have some coffee.

The house is sparkling clean so don't have that job to do today.   Started thinking about Christmas gifts last evening and decided to cross stitch some pretty hand towels for gifts....now is the time to get started.  Spent hours going through all my cross stitch patterns and books and found quite a few I liked.  Just need to get the towels and get started.

Other than that I am going to read, and maybe get some photos put into my WLS book.

Have a blessed weekend everyone....

Hi Annette:
Miss Fluffy is in the "dog" house....yesterday as I was putting on my shoes to go to work, she nailed me good on my right ankle.....it bled big time and I told her she
was lucky I didn't kill her.... I honestly don't know why
she bites like that.....frustrated, I guess!

 Poor wounded Pat,

Our Joey does that too. He can be all lovey dovey, then  WHACK - he nails us. (Most often Tom is the target)

Were you putting on shoes with laces perhaps? If so, Miss Fluffy could have been going for the laces, not you.

Hi!
Yes I was putting on shoes with laces.....and she does play with those shoes when I don't have them on, but I think she was angry because I was going to work....somehow they can tell.....when her eyes get really big, it's a warning she's going to bite.....I knew she was going to do it, but she had a hold of my leg before I could react.  She's always sorry afterwards, but that sure doesn't help my poor leg.....my skin is so thin (at my advanced age -- lol) it doesn't take much to make it
bleed.

I was so angry at her, but I really wouldn't "kill" her,
I just felt like it.....she's so much company for me and I do love her like a kid!

Have a great Sunday.
Pat

Aloha and good early morning OFF siblings!

Annette...I LOVE the kitty tales you tell. That Annie is a surefire brat......just like a black kitty I used to have named Sophie. She was a *******especially after I adopted a little kitten and SHE decided he was HERS and that was it. My girl kitty now, Poki, is a stinker, too, demanding her share of lovin' or I get the stink eye, and more!! Ha!

It's 5:00 a.m. and I'm about to head to the hospital to test "my " babies. Who knows how many were born last night, but I figured that in the 10 months I have been doing this....just one day a week, I have tested approx. 250 babies!! Wow.

One little downer that happened yesterday that I had to share was a very rude remark made to me by a "friend" I hadn't seen in months. I was on my way to my car when she pulled up in her van and we talked through the window. She said "Omigod, Karen, you look like you walked out of a concentration camp!" Now what kind of friend would make a remark like that???? I wish I had thought fast enough on my feet to say something like "Wow, you look like you just cleaned out Krispy Creme!!" But.....I just stammered something like "I'm not trying to lose weight any more, Jeannie.......I'm trying to KEEP the weight I have." Needless to say, I felt horrible the next hour or so and then decided not to dwell on it. Funny how people don't comment on us when we are obese, but when we are skinny, they feel free to say the most outrageously hurtful things.

Anyway....I'm off to the land of babies.....that will put a smile on my face.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Hi Karen   -  I haven't had surgery yet; however, I have heard rude comments made before and I  have made a few in my time (I"ve learned from my mistakes and do my best to be kind to people)  When I made unkind comments, it was always because I was feeling bad about myself  -  it really had nothing to do with the other person other than that they were an easy target (I am loathe to write this, but it is true  -  ugh  -  thank God I've grown!).  Lots of therapy and understanding how my childhood affected me helped me to overcome this horrible trait.  I don't think that I really knew, at that time, how much I hurt others.
I offer this explanation only so that you do not take this woman's comments so personally.  She was really giving you information about herself when she said that you looked like you walked out of a concentration camp  -  she is probably envious.

One way that I found to respond to rudeness without sinking to the level of the speaker was just to look at them after they made the comment  -  not to respond at all.  The other person generally stammered and sputtered and often apologized because of the comment made and the dead air that followed.  Sometimes, it can be humourous, too.
I don't know if this helps at all, but I hope that it does.
Have a great day with those wonderful babies!
Margaret
