Bad news - Good news
Hi Everybody! I've been out of the loop lately.
Bad news - good news:
George's PSA level has been elevated, the urologist has him trying a new medicine the last several weeks. If that doesn't help, he's trying to talk George into having a "procedure" that we're not quite ready to give in to yet. Please keep my honey in your prayers. He's such a good guy, never complains, but I know he's worried as am I.
The boss' official last day is the 31st, but he's in such a hurry to vacate the premises, he left yesterday with the promise to pop in occasionally - Oh goodie! The boss gave me one last kick in the teeth yesterday before he left. He has been a die hard Saint's fan since day one and season ticket holder. I bought a pen that plays "When the Saint's Go Marching In", paid good money for the thing. Gave it to him yesterday, Mr. Ingrate wouldn't even take it. "I don't want that thing." was the statement he made. Guess it wasn't good enough for him. George says I should have thrown it in the trash in front of him and told him, "There goes your retirement gift."
The reason I haven't been around lately is I got the new position/promotion I was after! My patience was rewarded!! I might add I will be given a substantial increase in salary to begin, and on my aniversary date in a few weeks, I'll receive another increase. Maybe putting up with Dr. Grumpy has paid off! With the new position, there will be a lot more responsibility, I'll be more exposed to others in the dept., (an open office rather than my very private office that I'm used to), so my computer time will be cut to almost nothing. I won't be able to check in with my OFF Family on a regular basis. I'll try to visit y'all from home at night occasionally. We'll see how it works out. One major drawback is I'll still be doing the work I've been doing plus the new stuff. Laws dictate that we keep patient slides/blocks/reports, etc for at least 10 years. I'll still be transcribing for the other doctors who do consultative work (I've been doing theirs along with my immediate boss' work all along), and still retrieving any materials requested by doctors, lawyers, and residents... Luckily the work load for my former position will not be so great and I think I can handle both. So, I'll be doing 1 1/2 jobs for the new salary.
Please wish me well and keep George in your prayers. I'll see you when I can.
Love and hugs to all, Debbie

Congratulations Debbie. I'm so glad that boss is gone. Good riddance. You deserve all the money and position they can give you for putting up with that. It should be considered combat pay.
You were beyond good in getting him that pen. But his being an ungrateful lout is no surprise.
You are an angel. I wish you only the best.
